You were told this week was very much in the realm of the possible.

Once you have STR results, best way to get a general ballpark on how long to expect is to join the project that covers your clade/haplogroup and see if any comments have been made about how long it has taken BigY kits to be processed in the past. The outcome on time taken seems to be clade specific in a lot of cases, so if you are in a "well tested" clade, results will be quick. If you're in "a new clade" that may have "branched in the more-distant past" expect to be a while, they're probably going to run your test at least twice. (My BigY was run twice, took just shy of 5 months, and YFull predicts the branching happened in my case between 1300 to 1800 years ago)

          • I am Y-DNA 37, and am batch 930. I don't know what that means, but I think I've got another week or two of impatient waiting to go, unfortunately. Is there a tracker online?

They "batch" tests one to two time a week, lately it has been twice a week. As per page 32 of this thread, batch 928 started returning STR results back this week. As such you can probably expect results sometime between Wednesday(30 Jan) next week and the end of the following week. Keep in mind, this is an estimate based on reports on the forums(people can lie/mislead), and may NOT reflect realities within the labs at FTDNA, which is information we do not have.

              • Somewhat disappointed, but not surprised. 916 was batched 11/19/18 so it's been a bit over 10 weeks.
Big Y-500 HiYNGS 916 02/11/2019 - 02/25/2019 Results for your Big Y test have been delayed. We have updated your predicted completion date, and action by you is not usually required. Note that predicted dates are an estimate and subject to lab volume and quality control.

BigY500 is no more, the transition to Y700 is likely to cause delays for most people who were expecting results from it this month.

The week isn't over just yet, so you could still fall in the recently observed interval and get something as late as Saturday.

That said, I have to wonder if the lower-level STR tests were also swept up in the Y-700 changeover. The literature suggested STR112+ but that doesn't necessarily mean that 1 to 111 weren't shifted to the new process as well.

Alternate option is the QC people who would be checking your test results have been pulled into helping clear the test backlog that the changeover of everybody still testing on BigY to Y700 means you may actually fall inside the estimated completion window rather than the much earlier one that had been enjoyed recently. As the Y700 results are supposed to start coming back as early as Feb 8. (And most of the people who would be in that batch are persons whose BigY results were supposed to have finished by now, or weeks/months earlier in many cases.)
