  • Hello

Expected 05/21/2018 - 06/04/2018. But as a customer, I consider it too late for the Y-DNA 12. When I did my full mtDNA sequence in the promotions period of the end of last year, the result came out in 28 days. Very fast the result of my very good sequence. And my Y-DNA 12 is taking too long. My Y-DNA 12 was batched on 04/09/2018.

I don't understand why my single SNP test in batch 820 will take till june. It's been delayed several times.

I messaged FTDNA about not having any haplogroup assigned after two weeks past the completion date. I was informed that they will be doing a Backbone SNP to identify my haplogroup. This can take 6-8 weeks. Just thought I’d post this in case someone is experiencing the same thing.

Sometimes you can guess the most probable haplogroup out of a haplogroup calculator (you can find one by googling).

It is my understanding, that FTDNA would only show you STR matches from your major haplogroup. Can you please confirm that you have no matches at this moment?

That is correct Mr W, I have no matches, no haplogroup, etc. I do have the STR results. I tried a few haplogroup predictors, and most put me in various Q haplogroups.

The predicted haplogroups I got were Q-M242, Q-Cluster 1, Q-M346 using different tools. The only info I have on my paternal side is that my grandmother was full-blooded Hungarian, and her husband was supposedly of English/Irish descent. From what I have briefly read, Q haplogroup is a lineage of Asian and Native American.

Q is present among Europeans, even in Scandinavia and England. Let's wait for the results.

bumped back again (bump 7?) to 5/23 to 6/6
                      Another bump...
                      Now 6/6 to 6/20/2018

I put in a support request. Their initial response was , your results will be done by the 23 (the next expected date) I replied that I knew my expected date ( as I've had more than a few) I also had asked for an answer from the lab on if my samples were viable and if not why was my test hung up for over 18 weeks when others were getting done in half that time. The reply said they have sent a status request to the lab... That was a week ago.

                        Big Y500 ordered 4/20/2018.

So far only one bump, fingers crossed it stays that way. It sounds like BAM files for H38 can be requested and generated now.

I posted that last month. Tonight, it may finally have arrived! I clicked on "Generate BAM" and it is thinking......thinking......?

If this works, it will have been 4 months from test to Big-Y1 and another 5.5 months for Big-Y500. Do I hold the record for longest delay?

                            • Y-DNA 12 without haplogroup

Hi, I'm very sad about the FTDNA. I bought the Y-DNA 12 and when it came out the result there is no predicted haplogroup. The Y12 is an expensive product, with very long result and when it comes out the result has no haplogroup. In the first email I sent, the FTDNA replied that it would do the backbone test. And today the FTDNA responded by saying that Y12 is a comprehensive test and that it was common to have confusion in the haplogroup. He told me to update the tests, that is, I'll have to buy new markers. So why does the company sell an expensive and deceptive product with a high level of production, a worthless result? I demand the backbone test as promised for the first time.

                              "Hello Arlan,

Thank you for your email. The Y-DNA12 is the most broad spectrum Y-DNA test we offer. At this level, confusion of haplogroup is common, as the primary purpose of the test is to provide ancestral surnames for Group Project purposes. If you want to confirm your haplogroup, we recommend upgrading to more advanced Y-DNA tests. This can be done by clicking the blue upgrade button and selecting from the several options we have made available there.

                              Thanks,

You have a Y DNA haplogroup, it is just not confirmed, isn't it?
