DF27 SNP Pack

Ok, Darren I patiently await the results.

In the meanwhile, can you look into something else for us? The DF27 Yahoo Group had this post below in October. Upon quick review, I see at least one SNP that was listed in this email attachment (A6137) as part of the Pack. However, I do not see it on my order tree.

Was this Oct. 2015 post incorrect on what SNPs were provided in the DF27 Pack? Is A6137 not part of the Pack? Also, were there 160 SNPs in the DF27 pack in October 2015. If not, where did he get this faulty information? Here is the link and message in bold italics for review.

"Attached is a tree formatted list of the SNPs in the R1b-DF27 SNP Pack. It includes position numbers and ancestral-derived allele information so you can compare with the Big Tree or YFull or the Haplotree. This is my effort at pulling the information together from the SNP list on the FTDNA web site on this pack.

I want to be clear that there are "stub" branches/bridges in this pack to the Z198 and Z209 SNP Packs. Those packs are specialized for those subclades of DF27. If you are sure you are Z198 (where SRY2627 and L165 are) you should get the Z198 Pack. If you are sure you are Z209 (where the N-S cluster is) then you get the Z209 Pack.

The DF27 Pack is for everybody else or anybody that is DF27+ but not sure where they fit in. I count about 160 SNPs in the DF27 Pack.

I'll go to work on doing a similar spreadsheet tree format for the Z209 and Z198 SNP packs.

After that the real work begins, making sure FTDNA updates the haplotree correctly with all of these SNPs so our haplogroup labels show up correctly. This will have a side benefit of as Big Y testers will see their known SNP tab results fill in (with these SNP names) and their haplogroup labels change too.

If I go to https://www.familytreedna.com/upgrades.aspx?ot=ADV and select SNP Pack as a Test Type, I can see descriptions of all the SNP packs. In particular, for the SNP Pack named R1b - DF27 SNP Pack, there is a following statement

Includes the following SNPs that are NOT on the haplotree:
Z296, ZZ12_2, FGC8127, M225, Z2552, BY3289, S400, A6137

Let me repeat my earlier suggestion, that the tests should have version numbers, preferably date related like 2016-02-06

I think that is a great idea proposed by Mr. W. Something like DF27 Pack 1.1 and 1.2.

However, that would not have been applicable in my case and some others because we ordered the test in November. Some of the SNPs in question were reportedly on the Pack to begin with in Oct. 2015. As reported by at least one Yahoo DF27 admin and members of the DF27 FTDNA group board.

My whole problem in this matter is that the customers should get results (at least have the test performed) for what they were told would be part of the pack in the beginning. We have identified at least one SNP that was reported as part of the Pack in Oct. This SNP is not even on the FTDNA test tree.

In addition to Mr. W's suggestion, it may also be good for FTDNA to ensure their test tree is updated on a more regular basis. Especially if you are offering tests that are not on the tree.

Well, Mr. W's idea incorporates dates for the version scheme as that will be more clear cut when the changes happen without paying as much attention. But yes even a numbered version would probably be better than current system.

Geez, let it be known that you picked an apt username. We get it and no one disagrees. Darren already said he opened a ticket to find out what is going on and/or get your desired results. He can't do anymore until he hears back. No one else can help. All we can do is be patient. It some times takes a few days before they get back to you. He opened the ticket on a Saturday. Give it some business days.

Here is something for you to contemplate. First off, I do not care about your opinion. I did not post under this "Grumble and Grips" thread to get some opinion from a no-it-all customer. If you don't like the "grumble and gripes" thread, then don't read them in this forum. Stick to your more advance topics for advance customers like yourself. Unless you are a FTDNA manager or IT, or have something of real value to add that helps then don't comment.

It is unfortunate I had to "grumble & gripe" and complain just to get FTDNA to look into this matter. My first ticket was in Dec. 2015, and I got nothing but unprofessional responses from Tech Specialist Chris P that conflict with what Daren has stated.

The fact remains, that I ordered the test in Nov.15. My SNPS in question have been orange, to blue, to orange to blue again. And I have no confidence that I will get any real results, or any real answers.
