  • An error in Y results

Finally a gripe other than delayed test results. After a 4 month delay i got results - only to find what i beleive is an error.

The number of repeats for dys 437 was listed as 11 when every other person in cluster is 14 whilst for dys 438, the result was 14 where everyone else is 11. Swapped values?

Wondered if this is an error of swapping somehow and posted this question in Y forum. I got an answer from a poster that said same exact error happened for him and ftdna confirmed error.

So i guess now i should try contacting help desk? Wish me luck. Also now dont know if i should be confident that some other differences reflect a unique branch - or just reflects anither error

If anyone knows more about this kind of swap errors please post. Thanks

Manual data entry was cited as a cause on previous occasions...

what do you mean strs are entered manually??
          or what is a typo?
how can you be sure of your dna testing then?

If I recall correctly, DYS437 and DYS438 are used for cross-checking (e.g., to make sure that two vials of sample are from the same person). So perhaps they are transcribed manually even if all other markers are transferred automatically.

@boutrosdu93, we do not know (past does not influence the future ). If penguin receives a proper explanation from the Customer Support, we might know more.

My dys437, dys438 are definitely transposed. I submitted a bug report
