If a man has MAO-A, then his daughter is guaranteed to get it from him, while his son is guaranteed to not get it from him.

A female can receive MAO-A from either her mother or father.

A male can receive MAO-A only from his mother.

So a male warrior who wants to have a chance of his son to be a warrior needs to marry a warrior lady . And his daughter will be a warrior even with the most peaceful mother .

X chromosome is not inherited like mtDNA.

Boys get their single X chromosome as a random combination of their mother X chromosomes.

Girls get one X intact from their fathers, while the second one is (like the boys single one) a random combination of their mother X chromosomes.

It is somewhat funny, but boys cannot get that particular gene from their father, but girls can!

Since MAO-A is on the X chromosome, you may want to ask your mother to test too

    boutrosdu93,

When you do get your MAOA test results (the final confirmation, whether you have the Warrior Gene or not) please let me know. Your results will help with my research on the subject matter.

yes but beware all depends on your goals. some thinks to do genalogy with y12 results but in fact even with 111 it's quite close but the most accurate is with familly finder.

if you share 1000cm then it's almost certain that person is very close to you

Yeah, those other tests are the best route. I just ordered the Y37 marker test and want to upgrade to 67 already. I must have some kind of DNA testing addiction. LOL
