  • How long after actually receiving test kit does order history typically update?

Ordered kit 7/21, shipped 7/22, received at my address 7/29, taken and mailed same day, and no update yet.
Scared something went wrong in the mail...

I believe when my two kits were mailed back on April 25th (from California) & April 27th (from Texas), they were batched May 7th and I received emails from FTDNA stating so on the 7th.

    Good Luck and be patient.

It varies, and the mail time varies. I have mailed (or had family mail) 8 FTDNA kits and 2 Genographic kits (also processed at FTDNA). We mailed from 2 locations. MOST of the kits arrived at FTDNA in about a week, and took a day to several days to hit the lab and then up to 6 days in the lab for Batch processing (that occurs on Wednesdays).

I had 2 kits, one from Tucson, and one from IL that took 5 to 5+ WEEKS to get from the local post office to Houston!!! Again, ALL my kits were mailed from the same two post office and after my first delayed kit I made sure to take a photo of the tracking info for all of the remaining kits... they truly can disappear in the mail for over a month!I was worried both times that the kits were truly lost. But... ALL of my kits did make it eventually to the lab.

Thanks guys! Trying to be patient. I'm mailing from southern Canada, but it's been 2 weeks today... I mailed from a different, smaller post office this time though and they asked me less questions about my package so... I hope it didn't get stuck at customs or something... I wonder at what point it's appropriate to consider it most in the mail...

It is hard to say, but give it a few more weeks and then request a new kit!

Also, always take a picture of the tracking package in the future! I learned the hard way lol.

I share your grievance, I ordered my kit end of June, got it and sent it back on calendar week 28, now we have calendar week 33 and my kit is still not batched: Five weeks lost!

What location is the kit you enter your USPS tracking number.

It would also be helpful to copy and paste the USPS tracking information in this thread.

FTDNA has already received my kit last week. But it is still not batched. "No hurry" seems to be FTDNAs motto.
I am sure they would be very much in a hurry if there would be a delay in payment for that many weeks.

If last week means Thursday or Friday, then it should get batch today and show up on your kit account tomorrow.

I have two more DNA kits inbound to the North Houston USPS center. Due to my timing of mailing the kits, they missed being batched this week, so I'll have to wait until next week.

I had my daughter mail mine July 17th in Houston...and they received it on August 6th..now I am waiting for it to be batched. Ancestry I mail it from NY they have it a week later and then two weeks later results..sigh..I need those MTDNA and Y results for my father and the family finder..so this was my only option since I could not get saliva.

No USPS tracking number... just dumped it in the mail here in Canada!
But.... Hooray! It arrived today... there I go, jumping the gun again!
Still, I know it doesn't take 2 weeks (July 29-Aug 12) to mail to Texas from here!
Now... I thought I was impatient for that milestone... I'll be tearing my hair out waiting for these results!

Don't want to Monday Quarterback, but I learned to take a picture of each kit label which has all the tracking number.

The following is what happened with my last kit, ftDNA has no control over the North Houston USPS:

I'm in batch 628 and it was just delayed another month, to "09/09/2015 - 09/23/2015".

It was batched June 24th, 2015.

Is this kind of extreme delay normal now? Or perhaps something's wrong with the sample?

Oh no don't say the D word! (Delay)
I'm in batch 635, due 9/2-9/16... but I doubt I'll get mine before you get yours!
I find that occasionally the delay message will appear about halfway through your expected completion range, only for the results to be posted a few days later. For Family Finder anyway. My only Y testing I've done so far was actually delayed about a month.
it's not a fun game for an overexcited tester like me checking results on a daily basis! "It'll be here in 3 weeks! Oh no its been delayed another month! Wait no, there's the results!" Aaaaahhhh... lol.
