If you have better options elsewhere, them use them. But otherwise, until you submit a sample, you won't have the clock started on your wait. We may be waiting, but we're already in the batch queues - you aren't, yet.

It doesn't mean I enjoy the wait, but at least I'll be getting a result.

      Very Disappointed in familytreedna thread

      I too am very disappointed.

Who delivers and keeps to the original dates? I will NOT recommend to any of my students now. Not only that, the specimen tubes were sent out tracked by Royal Mail, and the email I got confirming reception / delivery from FTDNA was not accurate, in fact they lied by the length of about 5 days... and now they have extended the result dates twice. Useless. What a waste of money.

Not only that, communications so called - they don't bother to reply promptly and sound extremely badtempered when they do. Perhaps this is standard the other side of the pond?

See, you are not in the United States, so you don't know how things work here. You need to be okay with everything, you can't offend Family Tree Dna, they are special and just because they take long to post results of tests, that doesn't mean you can show you don't respect it. (sarcasm)

Here everyone I mean EVERYONE is special and criticism (even truthful ones) = offensive and sometimes can be even label 'violent'.

        This is a crazy place!

I see. It seems to be a kind of a sect/cult thing to some people.

I think there are some people who have invested a lot of time - years and years, in some cases - in building up projects and doing research based on FTDNA's database. They want to continue that work and don't want anything to jeopardize it.

They become emotionally invested in building up FTDNA's userbase, so they tend to see any criticism of FTDNA's business practices as a threat.

This is really a funny comment! Might be true in some way.

Honestly, for me ancestry research and also learning from results of FTDNA, gedmatch & co. is especially in dark winter times a kind of drug... who cares? When new results come in... Tja.

I hope that FTDNA get´s things under control again, before their reputation will be deeply damaged of the mess of the last months. Because I like to get new matches!

I see my mtDNA FMS matches have gone AWOL this evening.

I'm beginning to think that FTDNA's IT department is now down to one man, having previously been one man and his dog, and that the dog, sadly, was the more experienced of the two.

Yes, this must be the guy who works for the IT. And in the lab. And for the customer service. Sometimes he might be seen in janitors clothes at FTDNAs facility.

                          Darren??

No -although he might feel like that much of the time.

Darren, from my observation, does his best to chase-up exceptional delays and problems while always keeping a cool head. I have a lot of sympathy for him and for anyone else working in FT's Customer Relations, having to field queries and complaints and working in what must be the most trying and frustrating of circumstances. They have to take the flak for whatever is going wrong behind the scenes.

As for what is going wrong behind the scenes ... well, I actually have sympathy for the IT staff too (having worked in IT for most of my life) as I'm sure they're not enjoying this any more than we are and want to put things right. There is clearly something wrong, but without knowing if that's down to having insufficient or inexperienced staff, poor management and prioritisation, unfathomable old coding, frustratingly unintegrated programs, or even something major with the databases, I reserve my judgement.
