What would be ok for me would be the terms stated at the time I placed my order.

You see, this is the difference between you and me because I do not accept everything written in the terms but I rather decided not to take neither the Y-DNA nor the mtDNA. It's a huge difference between 9 days (history has proven it's doable) and 9 or even more weeks.
Therefore I ordered only FF as it is said to yield the fastest results of all tests.

So if FTDNA would state return periodes longer than 9 months that would be also okay for you?

PeBe... your expectations are unreasonably high. The norm has never been 9 days for ANY test. Nowhere on their website do they promise a 9 day turn around. Four to six weeks for family finder and more for other tests is what is advertised and should be expected. Any results coming in quicker than that are rare and improbable.

I don't agree with Travers. And if you read this thread you know that a few people indeed got their results within 9 days. The important part here is: It is possible. It was done.
And no, I do not think that in this cases the lab skipped quality control and the results were not run through a matching database, like Travers wrote. Why do you (and Travers) think this?

I agree with Travers. No idea where the 9 days expectation came from. That has never been part of the offering from FTDNA.

After what I read here I am not willing to wait that many weeks or even months if I have to pay in advance, sorry to say that. Things get usually better and faster, don't they? Why not in the fields of DNA testing?

9 days was never the norm, it's always been 4 to 6 weeks for Family Finder and 6 to 8 weeks for Y-DNA IF there is no backlog which there is now, the current wait is estimated at 10 to 13 weeks. If you expect results in 9 days you are in the wrong hobby and genealogy is probably not for you either. A crime lab can't even produce results that quickly unless it gets pushed to the front of the line.

They have thousands of kits they process here, yes the actual lab work probably only takes a few days if it produces results the first time. They could probably give everyone results quickly if you were willing to get whatever results were produced the first run and skipped quality control and your results were not run through a matching database. My guess is you wouldn't be happy with partial results if an STR or SNP didn't produce results and if you weren't given a list of matches. I realize this is the Grumble & Gripes forum but you are not realistic.
