I see. It seems to be a kind of a sect/cult thing to some people.

    Very Disappointed in familytreedna thread

    I too am very disappointed.

Who delivers and keeps to the original dates? I will NOT recommend to any of my students now. Not only that, the specimen tubes were sent out tracked by Royal Mail, and the email I got confirming reception / delivery from FTDNA was not accurate, in fact they lied by the length of about 5 days... and now they have extended the result dates twice. Useless. What a waste of money.

Not only that, communications so called - they don't bother to reply promptly and sound extremely badtempered when they do. Perhaps this is standard the other side of the pond?

If you have better options elsewhere, them use them. But otherwise, until you submit a sample, you won't have the clock started on your wait. We may be waiting, but we're already in the batch queues - you aren't, yet.

It doesn't mean I enjoy the wait, but at least I'll be getting a result.

Therefore I ordered only FF as it is said to yield the fastest results of all tests.

So if FTDNA would state return periodes longer than 9 months that would be also okay for you?
OK, you have gone from one extreme to another. 9 days would be amazing, sure... but not realistic at the moment. 9 months, yes it would be too long.

All I can tell you is that while I HAVE gotten many "delay" messages, yet most of my Family Finders DID come back ON TIME per their original date range. My yDNA: 1 came back late, 1 came back early. My mtDNA, I think I had a couple delays, but only ONE test really was delayed for unreasonable amounts of time IMO and it still came in in under 6 months (probably under 4-5 months, but I have to look at the dates). I have NOT had ANY test take more than 5 months, including the yDNA and mtDNA.

Family Finder batched 03/18/2015 to when?

My mom FF was batched on 03/18/2015 and it was delayed by the second time. The time frame for the results as of today, is from 06/24/2015 until July something. (kit# 385069)

Four months for a Family Finder? I am considering cancelling everything, post my frustration in every single social media possible. I don't even consider talking to customer service to ask about my status, after reading so many horror stories posted in this forum...I don't think there is anything they can say other than giving my money back.

Same happened with my mtdna, it took 6 months!

I had 4 friends that were thinking about doing dna test, I will tell them to stay away from this company as far as they can. That is $400 dollars FTDNA won't see it.

One example of this is the automated storage device, which retrieves our samples without human intervention. This automatic SHOULD allow us to turn around Deep Clade tests in two weeks (providing the sample is already in Houston).

The Deep Clade was a SNP test not an STR test, apples and oranges. Also, the Deep Clade that he talked about here has been obsolete/not offered since the Geno 2.0 test came into existence.

    Thanks for the update.

The sooner a test gets ordered, the sooner results can be generated. FTDNA posts their typical turn-around times so order accordingly. Darren was pretty straight up, sorry the answer wasn't what you hoped.

They aren't making widgets, but dealing with biology that varies. There is some variance in the process.

That may well be true but I live in Europe and so I get this message:

"Welcome to AncestryDNA - The AncestryDNA product is not currently available for purchase outside of the United States."

I would consider receiving results of any DNA test within 9 days to be a fluke. If you were to conduct a survey of FTDNA customers, the vast majority would either receive their results slightly before the expected due date, not too long after, or after multiple delays.

If I was in your position, I would consider myself fortunate to receive such a speedy turnaround in that particular batch, but this is far from the norm.
