Still waiting for 603 Family finder results

I ordered the kit Dec 29. Still waiting for results for Batch 603. Several weeks after that order I order Y37. Wish I hadn't. If I had known how backlogged they were I would have held off until Family Finder was completed.

605s coming in and we wait

I read that some people have their Y-results, including y-67, from batch 605. Yes, this is frustrating, ftDNA executives.

What's different is the Haplotree & SNPs page appears. It used to, then everything got pushed back and a code 200 would show instead of that page. Does it mean anything that the 200 code is gone and the page is back?

Database was being rebuild. There were two announcements from FTDNA about it, yesterday.

If the problem reappears, it is something net new, and please report it to them.

Delay explained

I had ordered Family Finder test on Dec 29 to follow up the Y12 and Y25 done some years ago. I had ordered for my father because we share an interest in family history. I could not understand why the results were so long delayed. It turns out that the sample they have was not sufficient to do more tests so they had sent a new kit to him. Mom and Dad are almost 90 and forgetful. When they received the kit, even though I had warned them that one might be coming, they had forgotten. Mom had put it in the closet and forgot about it until now when I prompted her. So this current delay was completely our fault. FTDNA was going to send a new kit at my request but that is not necessary since Mom found the one sent in February.

BATCH 603

As with others that ordered under batch 603 I am really steamed at B.S. put forth by these bozos! Delay after delay and on 3/13/2015 I was told that the delay was due to a supplier of an important component ceased production and they then had to switch to the next generation of sequencers. Because it was a new procedure their lab got backed up and I was told my test was pushed to "high priority." Some high priority since not a peep since then.
Last time I will ever deal with this outfit!

The previous poster is correct. This has gotten ridiculous, especially because some of us were told our samples were put on high priority while people with batches 605 and higher have gotten results back.

It looks like ftDNA is pushing the new customers through to avoid too many complaints, and letting the ~602-604 keep complaining.

I totally agree. We are shoved aside for the new customers who think everything is 'hunkey dorry' and will then order more tests. Didn't anyone ever tell you that it's all about the bottom line?

I have been trying not to complain lately to give things a chance. So far, it has not worked. Going past week 12th. No results. The most disturbing thing is that we do not really know where our kits are in the process or if they are being processed at all. How long will it take?

I have posted a few examples of how those in later batches can get results before other batches when kits have to be rerun. When a kit is being rerun on the first pass it usually will come in three to five weeks provided everything looks good on the second pass. So if an average turn around time for the Y testing is 12 weeks then we could be looking at a total of 15 to 17 weeks from when the kit was batched. If the kit fails quality control another time then the lab will continue to rerun the testing until it finally clears quality control. You can always contact me or the helpdesk to get an update on your test.

Darren, Your answer doesn't make sense for all of batch 604 and most of batch 603. I don't think it is realistic that so many kits have simultaneously failed ...

I'm in 603 and ordered an upgrade from 37 to 67 for my father-in-law. On 3/4 the results for strings 38-47 and 61-67 came in. Still waiting on the rest.

I ordered it the same day as another person in the surname project did and they never received any data yet.

I first ordered with FTDNA back in 2002. I swear I see this frustration a few times a year going back for as long as I've been reading the forums. I still like the place and recommend it but I just shake my head at the delays.

Comments such as this from the company just make me more angry. Do you really think every one of us in batch 603 and 604 is that stupid? It's an insult to our intelligence. Quit with the bull, if every kit in these 2 batches failed then you have a real big problem on your hands, own it!

Yes, I have a Y111 kit in 603 and I'm getting irritated but the only problem is we really don't know how many have received their results from 603 and 604 because only the ten or so people on here complaining are a very small sample in those two batches. There could be a few hundred Y tests in those batches who have received their results and we have no way of knowing that.
