  • Just can't win

    I was flooded with relief when the Y37 results were finally posted late last night. But that feeling was short-lived. When looking through the FF results that had posted some time ago and were working just fine as recently as 4/23, I couldn't help but notice...

    ALL the FF matches have disappeared for this kit!

    Very strange.

    I've already sent out a SOS, so hopefully will have an answer soon. Maybe another "glitch"?

        • New dates up to 5-20. If it goes that far without results that will be FIVE MONTHS.

            Wow, I am sincerely sorry to hear that. Completely unacceptable. Looking at your posts I would say you are not being aggressive enough about this. I waited a long time and was frustrated also but it quickly abated after my results came in. But 4 or 5 months is over the top. I'd be screaming my head off and wanting to talk to a supervisor. At a minimum I'd contact the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately products and people fall through the cracks all the time. It's time to get obnoxiously vocal.

              I just wrote an Admin for the third time. I have also talked personally to a Customer Support person on April 21 but no response with an explanation. They both said they would check. Tomorrow I will call again (too late today...they are closed) and as soon as they answer I will ask to speak to a supervisor and I will not get off the line until they check and give me the answer right then....none of this we will send you an email after we have contacted the lab.

              edited to add: Just submitted another request to Customer Support. To me it's just unconscionable that they don't respond to anything except with some inane canned response.

              • Form submit - test status

                On the FTDNA facebook page, it was suggested that people asking about delayed test results "open a request" using the Support menu at the bottom of this page:
                Selecting the "test status" option is supposed to get the fastest response.

                I wouldn't hold my breath though. When you do get an answer, it probably won't be any more specific than the last delay message that was posted... and will likely take several days to receive that much. Also, be sure to save a screen shot of the confirmation request number because people are not receiving email confirmation of their "request" like they used to.

                Been there, done that... and not real happy yet.

                  I am tired of waiting and tired of the excuses. Our results shouldn't precede those batched before ours and newer ones should not precede ours; how hard is it to keep everything in order? If this continues to drag out, I will be filling a charge back with my card company and I would suggest others that can, do the same; I bet you FTDNA will start responding then.

                      I ordered an upgrade December 30, 2014 when they were offering their "Surprise Gift" campaign, it was batched the next day. I ordered upgrades for 3 kits during that Christmas campaign. Two were completed a month ago.... 603 was just postponed again. So it's been 4 months for an UPGRADE.

                      My guess is that they weren't ready for all of the requests and don't have the manpower to finish on time. It's very frustrating. I have 5 kits with FTDNA and I'm hesitant about upgrading anymore. Especially when they have sales or promotions. It delays things far too long.

                      If they delay it again I won't be purchasing any more kits through FTDNA. May 20th is a long way away... that will be close to 5 months for an upgrade.

                      I've been very patient and understanding up until yesterday, now I'm just annoyed.

                        Not being ready for all the extra tests is one thing but jumping over earlier batches to finish others is inexcusable. A person posted on here just today that he got his Y111 upgrade results back in one month. This was Batch 616.

                        I spoke on the phone April 21st and was told I would receive an email after the lady checked with the lab. That was nine days ago. I've sent in one of the requests from the Customer Care page...no reply. Darren has indicated he has checked but no reply from Customer Care. I called again today and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told one was not available but they would take all the information and have one call me back today. Who thinks someone called me back today??

                          That's a very long time with no update from FTDNA. I'm surprised that even Darren has had no reply.

                            To me it seems that they are testing randomly. Why? Because the show must go on but as they do not have the capacity to test everyone in a chronological order (huge backlog!) they skip some tests and test some others. This has the effect of giving the appearence that everything is fine and business as usual to some customers. It is called "divide et impera", some customers fiercly defend this company and call others to stop bit**ng around. Some fall into this and continue to order tests giving the company some air to continue with it's business.

                            • Just wanted to let everyone know that my results for the Y111 upgrade came back today.

                              Someone called back from Customer Care while we were on our bikes so I didn't hear the phone ring but the gentleman left a message. He was very pleasant and apologetic for the wait.

                              All my markers have posted but the matches haven't updated. They only go through Y37 on the drop down menu. Hopefully, that will update in the next few days. I'm just thankful that I have the all the panels. I can at least compare them to those who have joined the surname project I joined last December.

                              Thank you Darren for checking, the man who took my message yesterday and the person who called back today.

                              It's such a shame that I had to go through such measures to get things moving. I don't like being 'yucky' to people

                                I was wondering how you managed to keep that cool and not going ballistic considering the delays you gone through. Glad to hear you got our results now. With the matches it seems there is a problem as my matches disappeared. Let's hope FTDNA will get this problem fixed faster than the backlog problem.
