    More Waiting!

    My predicted mtDNA Batch 605 dates had been 2/25/2015 to 3/11/2015, today a note was posted saying;

"Results for your order have been delayed. We have updated your predicted completion date, and action by you is not usually required. Note that predicted dates are an estimate and subject to lab volume and quality control.,"
with the dates now 3/25/2015 to 4/8/2015.

As I tend not to be a patient person, this is frustrating. However, I feel FTDNA is doing their best, and I am trusting in them to provide results as soon as possible.

I agree, they are doing the best they can.

FYI: My reason for the mtDNA test is to prove my connection to a Revolutionary War Soldier. In 2003 I first tested with GeneTree DNA what I thought were descendants, and the results did not match. Later I did additional testing with Genebase. With paper records indicating that I am a descendant, I did more detailed research, and realized I had traced and tested the wrong family! This current test is from the right Family according to paper records......so in reality I have been waiting over 11 years, 9 months, and 24 days! And some people are complaining about weeks?? Good luck to us all!

I only just got this message this evening for my mtDNA for Batch 605 as when I checked this morning, the original dates were still there.

It is what it is but would like to know why there is a delay for another 3-4 weeks for mtDNA when my FF ones came through fine within the deadline.

Does this mean that there is no chance these results coming in before the 25th March now? Or could the results come in between the original end date of 11th March and the 25th March now being shown as the earliest date of completion?

Not sure what to expect as this is the first mtDNA test I have done.

            male bovine excreta

            Seriously?!?!?!

"Results for your order have been delayed. We have updated your predicted completion date, and action by you is not usually required. Note that predicted dates are an estimate and subject to lab volume and quality control."

My $500.00+ given in 12/18/2014 is only worth this reply?!?!?!?!

DNA tsunami or no, I call this male bovine excreta.

Do I really have to join the naysayers and call the BBB?

I am not an imbecile. Tell me why truthfully and I will be satisfied but just saying delayed until May is not going to let me sit here quiet. Is it really only about the $ ? How do you expect to engage large scale citizen science with this BS?

Can you tell I'm p****d? Replace your PR department NOW.

I have uploaded autosomal raw data in the recent past before the matching came through and have found no problems at all.

I think they are simply different computer processes. First the raw data comes in, then the data sits until they run an application which does the matching. This probably allows them to ration the processing capability of a heavily used computer system. I speculate here, but I worked in mainframe computing some years back and this looks like a similar setup. I can only comment on Family Finder data.

My FF 605 results are now through with matches, and this was the last of my summer sale kits. I can now focus on analysing my data .

I do not agree. FTDNA is not doing their best. They are condescending and disregarding the passion of their subscribers. Knowledge is power. Why are you, FTDNA, not fully informing your patrons?

I'm also in MT batch 605 and got the same notice. I might agree that the lab staff are doing their best in their currently situation... but if their lab can't handle the amount of kits coming in within their own projected time frame, something is wrong. A little bit of back up here or there, no big deal, but this is obviously more than that. Either they don't have enough staff, or they don't have enough equipment (or both) to process the amount of kits coming in within a reasonable amount of time. This is when upper management needs to step in, reassess the situation, and say "we've outgrow our current lab, time to upgrade". They need to buy more equipment and hire more staff to run it and if they physically don't have the room for it, they need to look into a new location for the lab. If this isn't being done, it's totally unacceptable.

Surge in DNA Popularity will Continue......

Germanica, I totally agree with your observations. It is not just the after effect of the Holiday Season, there are several television shows that promote DNA, so obviously the surge in popularity will continue, and FTDNA DOES NEED to acquire more equipment and personnel, or at the very least subcontract some of the work out to other Labs......

I agree with both of you but why should FTDNA do like you suggest as long as only a few people complain? Keep in mind that your suggestion (which I fully support) would cost money and for FTDNA it is much cheaper to rely on our patience and letting us wait - as long as there is no tsunami of complaints forcing FTDNA to do something.
Unfortunately I sense a lack of solidarity among customers as there are too few complaints. Nonetheless I hope our complaints will help to move things at FTDNA not only for us but also for the sake of others coming after us.

mtDNA 605, FF 610, and TBA mtDNA Full Sequence......

After seeing my results delayed for the mtDNA Plus Test, and knowing I might need the Full Sequence sooner or later, I figured the sooner I either order an upgrade, OR start anew with Genebase, the better for "faster" results.

So, I have upgraded with FTDNA for the Full Sequence, due to price; $139 Upgrade, compared to $528 for the Genebase Premium Maternal Ancestry Package (mtDNA HVR1 + HVR2 + Coding Region Test). Batch number to be assigned next Wednesday.

As pointed out previously, I have been searching and waiting for test results to prove a connection since 2003! Since I believe the current mtDNA Batch 605 test is the one that will be the proof, one can imagine my frustration.

Also waiting for the FF Batch 610......

I agree with the above. I am excited that there is such a surge in interest in the topic. I also can tolerate that the equipment and staff are on overload. What I can't stand is the cavalier way in which my keen interest and investment is brushed into a future acquisition of information date. I want to know why I didn't have my data on time and I don't want it to be a rubber stamped broad brush little note on my process page. Besides, I'm pretty old and have had enough of this in my life.

Batch 605 mtDNA comes in today after batch delayed

Last week, was told this would not come in before the 25th March after deadline was changed from the 4th-11th March ...today my mtDNA comes through!!

Are the dates changing due to internal SLAs to make their stats look good? I'm glad I got my results but just a bit confused after the batch date changed last week and yet today the results come in within the original range. No wonder people are frustrated...

After trying to get used to the Results being delayed another MONTH, today at Noon I had a Wonderful Surprise! The mtDNA test results were in, and since the original predicted dates were 2/25/2015 to 3/11/2015, they can be considered ON TIME and a little EARLY! So happy, and YES this test proved my descent from a Revolutionary War Soldier! Thank You Family Tree DNA......
