My dad's FF test was batched on 12/11, and was completed on 12/30, so 19 days to get his results back.

My Dads kit is exactly the same received on the 5th Jan and batched on the 8th, batch 604, but not shown as received by lab, and with an expected date of results as 3-4 weeks

The only plus I can see in all of this is that over the holidays everything may have been caught up on as best they can which might mean the lab is ready-ish for the influx!

I administer 8 kits with FF results. The only results we waited for longer than 4 weeks were my dad's and mine - both transfers from National Geographic. His came in last night after almost 6 weeks. Mine took 3 months. FTDNA gave me a refund. Any test kit I ordered new from FTDNA came in within the expected time.

I do suspect there were a lot of more tests sold in the sales so I wonder how they will handle them all!!
In my experience the FF test is usually done fast. I've only had to wait on the y STR tests and an snp test. Hopefully, you will get results soon. Any delays are probably due to the increased volume from the sales.

Thats great that my own 8 week wait for results wasn't the norm!

Any idea of the average processing time for an mtDNA kit? Yesterday got confirmation they received the kit - FAQ says processing time can be 6-8 weeks but I'm hoping that's the maximum, not the norm. Hoping the norm is more like 2-3 weeks.

At best, you can hope for 5 weeks for a full mtDNA result. But that starts from the day the test is batched, not from the day the kit is received.

                    Call it a technology limitation

My brother's mtDNA took 6 weeks exactly from the day it was batched.

                        Mine took about 5 months.

It is also important to note that they may not actually get around to running your test for as much as several months after they give you a batch date.

In my experience, this appears to be especially true if you bought in during a high-volume sale.

That's disappointing but thanks for everyone's response.

I just had a look at my dads kit again and it's not saying recieved by the Lab yet, checked my own and it was received by lab the day after it was batched....
