  • How Many People actually get Family Finder Results in the 3-4 week time Frame given..

My Dads DNA kit has been batched and given a 3-4 week time frame for results... When my own was done last May I was given 3-4 weeks first, then 1-2 weeks and it ended up being 8 weeks, but at the time and since then it seems a lot of peoples kits don't make it back in the 3-4 weeks time frame, just wondering has anyone gotten their Family Finder results back in the 3-4 week time frame..

My wife's kit has been batched today. All I need now is a little patience. I know that it may take more time as I am sure there were a lot of orders during the sale.

Louise the 3 to 4 week time frame is from once the lab receives the sample and logs it in.

From the looks of my recent matches coming in, 1 today and 6 yesterday, they are cranking out the FF tests. The Y dna, that seems a whole another issue.

I ordered two FF last year and both ran similar and here is that breakdown for one in July, about 2.5 weeks from received by lab to results.
            8/8/2014 Completed
            7/24/2014 Batched
            7/22/2014 Received By Lab

            7/3/2014 Ordered

So they do come in in the 3-4 week time frame!!!

Mine was batched on the 12th June last year and I didn't get the results until 7th August, nothing to report on it when I contacted the help desk which made me curious as to if anyone actually gets results in that time frame!

My dads are batched now anyway, and I too noticed a good few new matches today that weren't there yesterday, hopefully all will go smoothly with the results!

Yes, I got my Family Finder results in about 4 weeks. I've also gotten an snp test done in just a couple of weeks. On the other hand, I've had to wait for a few months for y str tests.

                        Thats great to hear ekc123....

I do suspect there were a lot of more tests sold in the sales so I wonder how they will handle them all!!

I have 6 FF tests of my own completed so far and the longest took 5 weeks. All of the others were 3-4 weeks.

I'm liking the sounds of these responses!!

I've only ever done one test so only had that to compare it to and it was 8 weeks between batching and getting results, to know there is a glimer that I might get results in 4 weeks is good!!

My uncle's kit was received by FTDNA on 11 Dec., batched on 18 Dec., and his FF matches are showing as of 7 January (I checked and did not see them yesterday, though they show up this morning). That is less than 3 weeks since batching. He has 41 matches so far. His Y-67 expected completion is now at 3-5 weeks, in batch 601, so we'll see how those do. Fingers crossed it goes well.

I had another FF done recently: received 21 Oct. 2014, batched 22 Oct., expected 19 Nov., completed on 21 Nov. (4 weeks, 2 days).

I have another FF in process: mailed on 25 Dec., received 2 Jan. 2015, batched 7 Jan. (batch 604), but as of yesterday not shown as "received by lab." Expected completion is 3-4 weeks.

An upgrade to FMS for another relative (from her existing mtDNA+) was ordered on 8 Dec., batched on 11 Dec. (batch 600), expected 2 Feb. 2015, but COMPLETED 6 Jan., a total of just under 4 weeks. FMS matches showed up yesterday.

I would like to point out that the completed tests above have been processed: (1 FF) just before and (2 - 1 FF, 1 FMS) over the holiday period. I know many complaints have been made in the forums, for delays for all kinds of tests from FF to Big Y, and I believe those customers did have poor service.

But I want to be one voice who has, so far, not had excessive delays or complications in my 11 kits, and many tests done (FF, mtDNA+, FMS, Y-67, Y-111, SNP). Many times the folks who get good service don't mention it, so there may be a skewed perception by new customers reading the forums.

I kept track of all the kits I've ordered, and out of 8 FF done since late Oct. 2013, all but one were completed in 2 to 4 weeks from batching. The exception took 6 weeks, and that was over the holidays in 2013.
