  • 599 "completed" but Y-STR values not posted

My Dad's batch 599 was to complete Ydna 13-37. He had transferred Ydna 1-12 in October. This past week I was happy to see that the Y-37 was listed as completed on 1/29/2015.

However, there is No Updated Data posted. I've been watching all week. The Y-STR values only show the ones he transferred from Ancestry. I wrote to Customer Support today.

It sounds like the lab is clearing out its backlog.

      I understand that. Thanks

Yay! I suggested this idea to Bennett Greenspan, and he told me he may follow up on it. I'm glad to see he did!

Thank you for you input but I don't really think this has anything to do with the delay on these Y test results. Batch 596 Going on 13 weeks

True, not directly related, and the webinar won't explain all these delays. But I just put it out there for those who had commented and were questioning how the process ideally is supposed to work (such as Dna-donut on Feb. 6 - who I should have quoted in my earlier post).

For anyone interested, the video is up on FTDNA's YouTube channel now:
A behind-the-scenes look at the "ideal life" of a Family Tree DNA kit, from the time a new kit is ordered until the customer receives results.

I, too, have a Y-67 test pending (batch 601), and am keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't fall into this limbo zone. The Y-12 panel is overdue, and in a few days the rest will reach the end of their original estimated completion period. Each time I log in, I dread that I'll see that the dates have been extended. I'm only at almost 8 weeks now, but this was a tough sample to obtain, with over a year's delay just getting the distantly-located participant to actually submit the sample after he lost the first kit. Long story, and I won't bore all with it. So I'm eager to finally see the results.

I hope all overdue tests will be processed soon.

It is a step in the right direction toward what we all need from FTDNA: Communication.

Not really, but I guess it is what it is.

Good luck and I hope all those waiting get their results soon.

Yes, the results I am waiting on were difficult to obtain too. The participant (2nd cousin) had to be convinced and then after I sent him the kit he never sent it back into the lab. After two months of him not answering my messages FT sent me another kit (same number) and I sent it to another cousin (different family line).

Then, lo and behold, the first cousin emails me that he's ready to do the test and wants me to walk him through it So, I order another kit and test. This went on for about six months. His autosomal went through quickly so I don't think there was any problem with his sample but if I have to send him out another kit for another sample I really don't think he will do it again.

Congrats! Still hoping my Y37 from Batch 595 comes in soon, or at the very least an update on the progress of my sample.

Just posting to say you are not alone, Tim, I am still waiting on the same test and batch, now with a time frame of 2/4 to 2/18.

                          • Ive been waiting 3.5 months for a Y-12 old genographic kit i had which is processed by ftdna. Been given one lie after another. This sample took 2 years to finally get and i cant get another. They claim results were finally ready last tuesday but still no results. To think this is just step 1! How long will it take for them to do 12-37 marker upgrade i will order if i ever get results. They at least should not charge credit card until you get your data- maybe that would get them to move in a reasonable time frame as well. Hilope i live to see the data. I wish they were honest- if theres now a 6 month wait for all new kits it seems line its their responsibility to tell people this before buying kit.

I've been given the same timeframe as well...at this point I am just waiting for the inevitable update that will extend the wait at least another 2 weeks. I would be happy with just an answer as to where my sample is in the process at this stage, though my hope is dwindling and future business may be going elsewhere...

                              • Another Delay on Batch 601 Y-67??????

Well, they were already 2 weeks past their outer deadline for 1-12 results and were going to blow through their outer deadline for the rest as of tomorrow, when they tacked on another 2 weeks for all. This just happened in the last couple of hours. Usually, they sneak this in Saturday night or Sunday morning.

I really wish they would get their act together at the lab, or just level with their customers.

                                Very annoying.
