New Since Last Log-in - not very useful

Two problems with the new since last log-in feature (first, the upside: it does now work, sort of, which it didn't before).

Often you might login but not check FamilyFinder match results. So when you then, on a subsequent login, check your FF results what is to you still a new match won't show up as such.

Two, it's so ephemeral anyway, even w/o the above hitch. I think the 23andMe system "New in the last 7 days", "New in the last 30 days" is much more helpful and useful, for keeping track of the changes in your match list over time.

Better yet would be to add a field "Date of match" or some such. That would get rid of the ephemerality (???) problem!

As I've grumbled before, it works how FTDNA wants it to work but it doesn't work how I want it to work.

As it is currently implemented it should be relabeled "New since last login date".

And yes, 23andMe's approach is far better.

Yes, it does rather smack of the 80-year old doing 40 in the far left lane with their directional on for the last 5 exits. It's a completely redundant and misleading notification, especially when it's "not in my project". That's what the match limits are SUPPOSED to do--weed out the worthless non-matches at my discretion. Good thing they found a way to override my judgment.

But don't you think you're p****ing up a rope a little bit here? It's been like a month since I posted a note to the same effect. It's a simple code change that should cost ZERO dollars and take about 5 minutes. Clearly no one who matters cares about this, so nothing will change.

Just get used to it. It's annoying, but only if you pay attention to it.
