I'd like to perform any action on Ancestral Origins report. The information about country, match total and percentage is interesting; but I can't know anything more, SNPs, or perform -if it's technically possible- cross-consults with other reports like Matches.

That would actually be kind of neat. Hmm..... might be really helpful.

          Another Ancestral Origins improvement

There's something that could be done with Ancestral Origins. See, if I check it I can get info like this:

          Germany
          183 -
          1 Saxony
          1 Swabia
          1 Westphalia

          [That's] 186 [over a population of] 9.278 [then:] 2,0%

The % is calculated over all Germany tested population, and I can't check how many Swabia tested population are there. There are Europe zones that take more than one country. In my case, for example, I have 16 Ashkenakim ancestors, but spreaded over 5 countries; and I would like to know the % over the tested Ashkenazim population, but I can't because there's no way I can know the # of tested Ashkenazim.

I support the suggestion to perform any action on Ancestral Origins.

            @ Ethain
Dont know if there is data about this comment section, but what can be seen is, that most of the matches dont have such a comment. So where is the information from? Can Costumers themselves write their tribal/regional origin somewhere or how does FTDNA know?

            I got:
            England 5 - 5 18.514 < 0.1%
            Scotland 7 - 7 8.456 0,1%

            United Kingdom 2 - 4 8.333 < 0.1%
            1 British Isles
            1 Great Britain

Why is there a "United Kingdom" with 8.333 profiles? British Isles and Great Britain are not really further information for United Kingdom.

Because the Ancestral Origins page lists what participants listed as their Ancestral Origins. So if they have history from the Isles and they put "British Isles" then it will come back with British Isles same for Great Britain.

I supose, but that doesn't work with jew info, -Ashkenazim, Sephardim and Mizrachim-, because these come from somewhere-else-FTDNA-knows-where, not from users.

That data is added per information that has been provided by the customer when they sent in their signed release, not per FTDNA's "guessing".

I believe that comments such as "Ashkenazi" can be added at any time; just call the FTDNA office and ask them to add it. If there's nothing in the comments section for a result, then the person hasn't requested any info to be included there.

The comments section that contain Jewish ancestry information is entered on our end, usually someone who speaks with Bennett Greenspan regarding the results can have the information added. There are also many samples that are part of research studies that have been entered in as anonymous. Meaning these will show up on ancestral origins but not on your Y-DNA matches list.

If those comments containing Jewish ancestry information are entered on you end, would it be possible to know the total number of ashkenazim population you have so I can make my own %?

While I don't have that information, you may be able to contact Bennett Greenspan and see what he has to say. If you need his email address please email me.

I'd like to see the haplogroups added to the ancestral origins.

My haplogroup is the R1b.... group and unless a match (25, 37, 67, GD's 0 thru6) is within my exact haplogroup subclade they are not a match at all, so the information is useless to me. Apparently that's a problem with haplogroup R, but since there are so many R's in FTDA, FTDNA should do something about it.

Being adopted, I am probably more curious about ancestral origins than folks who can trace lineages via family lines.

                              Hi again, Bart,

I'm adopted, too - and I think we tend to be more curious than otherwise. I got lucky in one respect, that a niece of mine is Mormon and together, we searched the Mormon library and found lots of information that is now publicly available to those who search. Our paternal lineage goes back to Stepney, London at about 1567 (so far). As another R1b1b2a1b5, I await further refinement of the Haplogroup but am resigned to wait, as we are standing on the cutting edge of the science and wondering why answers are so slow in coming!
