  • One way family finder matches?

My mother, brother, 1st cousin and I are on my 3rd cousin's family finder match list but she only appears as a match on my mother's and 1st cousin's list of matches.

When I run "in common" with my third cousin on my mother's or 1st cousin's, my brother and I appear.

How can we match someone but they don't match us?

Also, my mother shares 1126 matches with me but I only share 1123 matches with her.

Please complain to FTDNA. I have a similar problem in my family with one of the siblings: their In Common With lists are different.

Preferably start with you mother, as that issue is the simplest to explain.

    Good luck - Mr. W

Maybe it has to do with your preferences? Log into one of hte kits that does not see this cousin of yours. Move your mouse over to the kit's name and kit number. Click on "Account Settings". Then click on the "Match and Email Settings" tab. Towards the bottom you will see the section titled "Family Finder Matches & Email Notifications". Do you have "Yes" on all 4 options? If you have some set to "No" then some distant matches will not show up, which could include your 3rd cousin.
