  • Last Log In Dates

I think it would be helpful if there was a way (if there is I haven't found it) of knowing when other people last logged into their accounts. This would at least signify if people were still active or when they were last active. I'm finding people do not acknowledge e-mails and though I would still send them in hope I wouldn't persist with people who haven't logged in for years. That would reduce my frustration no end.

Perhaps some have just left us their DNA and have returned to their maker and know all the answers to the questions they had.

There used to be an option to show log-in activity. It was voluntary, one of several choices under Account Settings. I opted out, and so did most of my matches.

The choice seems to be gone now, but perhaps it could be re-implemented with "Show last log-in" as the default setting. That way, you'd be able to tell who was deceased or inactive because, since they never log in, their accounts would show "Last log-in: NEVER/LAST YEAR/[or whatever]."

Thanks WCoaster. I'll have to check. Mind you, if people can opt out it may not be a lot of use, even if it still is a choice.

Ancestry has that on all a person's matches. I like it. Plus, if you go to a person's profile page on Ancestry it indicates when they first became a member and when they last logged into their account. The thing about login dates is that sometimes they aren't accurate. I stay logged in to my account on Ancestry so it may show to someone who looks at that info that I last logged in six months ago when actually I am there every day.
