I sent a message to the help desk after encountering this comment at the website dnagedcom.com, "This feature is dependant on FTDNA servers. At this time, FTDNA is still throwing a disconnect when trying to run ICW data. I will continue to work with them to try to bring this feature back online." I have found the tool at dnagedcom.com to be very useful in getting more from my Family Finder results. Let's hope the function is working soon. When it is, give the site a try. See if it benefits you, like it has me.

Hope it's fixed really soon!
The dnagedcom.com autosomal DNA segment analyzer is an absolutely essential tool -- WAY more convenient than using the FTDNA chromosome browser and matrix to identify matches in common who all share the same segment of a chromosome and to determine whether segments are of maternal or paternal origin. I urgently need to generate updates for all the trees I manage!

Why is Family Tree denying these downloads to DNAgedcom? I really need this tool. I can use the tool for my own data because it was uploaded to DNAgedcom previously but now I want to download my husband's data. I really need this tool to match segments from two kits from Ancestry which are now on GEDmatch. This is a case of adoption a hundred years ago but we have no way to compare a particular segment with kits from Family Tree except with the segment analyzer tool on DNAgedcom.
Again, FTDNA is being annoying and irritating.Last edited by Tenn4ever; 10 October 2014, 01:27 PM.

It’s incredibly frustrating. I’ve found the tools at DNAGedcom invaluable for making sense of the FF matches, and making best use of this site.
I see Rob has made a Facebook post suggesting FTDNA provide an ICW download. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to link to it, but it should be easy enough to find.
It would seem to be an ideal solution all round.

If they are going to prevent us from using this tool, they should provide us with an equivalent or better toll!!!
We wouldn't have to rely on third party tools if FTDNA provided tools that were equally useful. Instead of developing such DNA tools, they waste their time and money on trees, which are not in their sphere at all.

(Still learning finer details of FF.)

Given that some have 4+ thousands matches, I am imagining that running it manually is a good thing for the remaining users (i.e servers are not bogged down).
