  • MyOrigins - Compare son with parents...

Houston, we have a problem. And yes, they are his parents.

    Son

    55% European Northlands
    33% European Coastal Islands
    11% North Mediterranean Basin
    1& Asian Northeast

    Father

    66% European Northlands
    32% European Coastal Islands
    3% Eastern Afroasiatic

    Mother

    100% European Coastal Plains

There's nothing unexpected there. Perfectly normal.
The parents average 33% EN, 66% ECI, 1% Asia.
That averages on the map off the coast of Holland, roughly.
The son averages roughly the same spot, perhaps
a bit too far east. But the Mediterranean pulls him
quite a bit south of where he otherwise would be.

You should not expect a numerical average!

How can the mother be 100% Coastal Plains and the son show nothing for that region? That doesn't make sense to me. Sorry if I'm being dense, but I guess I'm not understanding how they're doing this.

Agreed! Dr McDonalds's explanation doesn't make much sense to me either.
