Seeing your closest Y-dna Matches

Currently a user is unable to see one's matches when the genetic distance is beyond the FTDNA set threshold.

It would be helpful to see one's closest matches beyond the threshold.

For example: If my closest 37 marker match(s) are at a GD of 6, or my closest 111 marker match is a GD of 20, allow the user to choose "show closest match(s)" from the pull down choices even if it's beyond the current threshold.

I don't think that far matches could have any use to you. Functionally, those people are unrelated to you.

That said, you can view some by joining surname projects and then looking at the results page.

That may be true, but it would still be nice to know your closest match.

I think this could be a helpful feature especially for those with very rare haplotypes where finding a match my be an ancient one but it gives some direction.

This is why we rely on GEDMatch so much.
