  • Hilarious GAP page gyrations

The "Y500" has been rumored on these forums recently.

Its been lurking around in the Unreceived LAb Results and Received Lab Results pages on the GAP dahsboard.

Yesterday, everybody in my project had it as Unreceived.
Today, at this moment, everybody has it as Received.

Of course, there is no other sign of it.

I just mention this as hilarious slapstick entertaiment,
    not useful info.

That has changed (again!) what is being shown to those who had the Big Y test, their myFTDNA page now suddenly says
    Big Y Results Completed: 4/19/2018

Although that is not totally meaningless, it is quite unnerving to those who do not monitor FTDNA extracurricular activities...

    Mr. W.

    P.S.
Talking about slapstick entertainment, the question mark next to Big Y is not linked to anywhere...

I manage my brothers' kit and the completion date for the Big Y changed to 19/4/2018 yesterday (from the previos 2016 date)- I assumed this to mean the promised 111 STR update was completed.

I was able to see and print off the extra markers this morning. There is a total of 561 markers, including the original 111 markers. They appear in the Big Y section of the home page.

For those who had Big Y, but not Y-DNA111, do you see their results for the panel 5 (68-111)?

For my family that panel does not exist, and upon rereading the terse e-mail announcement from FTDNA I am not sure whether I can expect it...

You're right. I found a project member who only tested for 67 markers and he is missing panel 5. I wonder if it would be better if FTDNA only listed markers 112 - 561 in the Big Y section?

              More GAP page gyrations.

They have chenged the format of two GAP page data downloads
              and the name of three.

The file previously named MacDonald_Family_Finder_Results_Illumina_20180416. csv
(with today's date)has lost the date, now its just
              MacDonald_Family_Finder_Results_Illumina.csv
The first line, describing the columns, has lost its
              quote marks.
              But the data seems unchanged.

              The file formerly MacDonald_YDNA_SNP_Report_20180416.csv
has also lost its date. But its format has changed:
the first line, describing the columns, has also lost its quote marks, and the last two columns, Subgroup and Confirmed SNPs, have exchanged position.

MacDonald_YDNA_Results_Classic_20180416.csv has changed the most. It's lost its date in the name and also the header row has lost its quote marks.

But the data is now bizarre. The actual info is almost all the same (what I call "IsPredicted", formerly the last column, appears to be gone), but the real format is strange.
Each person is now seven lines. The first is blank. The next is the data, looking like

, ,,,,"13","23","14","10","15-16","11" and on as before,
just missing the IsPRedicted at the end.
              The next three are all
, , followed by 100 more commas. Note that the number
of added commas does not add up to 450.
6th line is haplogroup (repeated for each person).
finally there is a line with the Kit Number,Name,Paternal Ancestor Name,Country, and Haplogroup, followed by lots of commas.

I have reported this to the GAP page help line and they are looking into it. Clearly, if all data for one person is not on one line, its not useful as an Excel file.
