  • Slowness of site

You have noted site slowness in your posts for a while.

Its been impossible for 2 weeks now to get past the first page of matches in family finder for most of the kit numbers that I have tried. It is more than just slow (it times out while indicating "waiting for Familytreedna" and I think we are entitled to more detailed explanation of what is happening and when it its likely to be fixed. Is it a hardware upgrade that is needed? Are you getting a denial of service attack? The family finder features are largely unusable.

This must not be a general problem for all users at all times. It is working pretty zippy for me right now. I am using Chrome and accessing through a minor phone company, rural DSL connection.

      • Hi,

We addressed the main issue at the end of this week. However, the mtDNA sale may be generating more traffic than average.

        • Chance work around the slowness

Just by chance I seemed to have stumbled upon a way around the slowness of the family finder. The slowness seems to occur after you go into your matching names list. Getting back out to other features seems often impossible. However, I have been able to go directly to the chromosome browser tab from the home page and avoid the matches tab first. I hope that this doesn't remain necessary for too much longer.

          • FF - Matches > Chromosome Browser?

Are you saying that it is when you are using the Add to Chromosome Browser tool on the Matches page that you run into slowness?

            • Site Speed

              Hi,

Is anyone having problems with page load speed here in the Forums this weekend? How about the GAP?

              Comment

              • I had very little time this weekend because our refrigerator went out and we had to shop for a new one, etc., etc.

But in the very short time I was logged in, the few GAP features I used were smooth and fast.

                • My project's most recent Big Y result (dated March 29) is still empty. His Big Y Results page says "No data available in table".

                  • What is the kit, Larry? I will find out what has happened.

                    • When I try to login, it takes me back to a blank login page.

When I return to the home page, it shows me as logged in (My FTDNA/Logout). When I click on "My FTDNA", it takes me back to a blank login page.

I've logged out and back in three times with the same result...

The "result" has now been withdrawn. Apparently, it wasn't really done.

                        • SNP order shows completed

This sounds like it might be one of the site problems. I ordered a SNP - P310 - in January (1/23). It shows completed in the Order History but in the SNP Haplotree it shows the SNP as being available for purchase, rather than either 'in progress' or a negative or positive result. The kit # is B4020.

These are the issues of which I am aware:
                            • For mtFull results, FASTA download is broken.

                            What am I missing?
Is this one still on your radar? I've had a couple of people ask me about this, and I am still unable to download mine.

I couldn't login for two weeks but FTDNA must have fixed it as I can now.I tried everything at that time and even had an expert look at my computer as I thought there was something wrong with it.
