  • Crossed wires ....

Had a marketing message this AM to remind me about the (very good) Full Sequence mtDNA sale at $139. Problem is, it goes on to tell me that I have not added this full sequence to my Kit #Dxxxxxx.

Two problems - (a) I don't have a kit by that number, and (b) I already have the mtDNA Full Sequence for my own kit (and don't even ask how much I paid for that back a couple of years ago).

Somehow, the auto merging program is out of whack, or my name has been erroneously entered as the owner of kit #Dxxxxxx.

    Just sayin'

    • Ahhhhhhh I did not realize those would be pulled. ECK! Well... Actually it is pretty funny.

A D prefixed kit number is the database number for a group project. You got that because you are a GAP.

        Hi Rebekah

I sponsored a full mtDNA and FF for my Mother about a month ago. She is still waiting for the test kit but I received the same "offer to ugrade to a full mtDNA" e-mail for her kit number. I am not a GAP

        • Thinus,

OK. They must have pulled from the has results field and not the ordered field for that list. We will work on it.

          • I'm having a problem ordering mtFull Sequence. Most of the time, when I push "order now" I simply get a blank window.

If I manage to get to the stage where you have to enter the credit card information, the drop-down menus of the expiration date don't work.

            • As they say in the armed forces ... SNAFU.

I gather that Rebekah is on the case and has locked FTDNA IT staff in a small room until they fix it.

              • Working on it. Major drawback... I work in the small IT room too... SNAFU.

I think the problem goes deeper than that. In addition to the message I received yesterday (as a project admin), I received two messages early this morning. The first had the subject line "Order Another mtDNA Full Sequence Test Today! Enjoy Outstanding Savings!", and asked if I wanted to test someone new. This makes some sense. However, the second message, received seven minutes later, had the subject "Add mtDNA to kit #61365. Get Outstanding Savings Today!". This one said: "You have not yet added mtDNA testing to kit #61365. This is the perfect time to do it." This is strange, since my order history shows (correctly) that I ordered the mtFull Sequence on 10/28/2008. This was assigned to batch 281 on 10/29/2008, and the test was completed 3/19/2009.

Maybe whoever wrote the query for this database search forgot to negate the test, sending the tailored message to anybody that had already taken the test, rather than those who had not.

Maybe. I am going to pull data.

                    • I also received notice of the mtdna sale, although I tested years ago. I appreciate the notice because it is a friendly reminder that I can sponsor my cousin who will be able to provide me with my paternal grandmother's mtdna. Having this for my file is important, so thanks FTDNA for helping me think outside the box.....and save a few coins.

                      • Email Sale Announcement Issue

Rebekah - This sale is amazing, and I hope for a maximal response from customers! With this in mind, I am reporting the following problem:

Two of the kits I manage did NOT receive any email announcement. I fear that other customers are missing out on this incredible offer that will inspire many to FINALLY upgrade to FMS. I hope FTDNA will ensure that no customers are left out!

                        Thanks!

                        • Hi,

That would be dreadful indeed. :-( Could the messages have gone to spam? Do you get mtDNA HVR1 match notifications for those kits?

Rebekah - Nothing found in spam. The kits in question are two (out of six) that are associated with MY email address.

With six kits, I received just four sale announcements, including a GAP alert (which I assume is applicable to my personal kit, too, because I did not receive a separate one for my kit).

If it helps, here are the two kit numbers that were clearly excluded: N107365 and 211438. (No HVR match notifications are expected nor received for either kit. One has a very rare HVR1 with no match outside the immediate family being tested since 2009. The second kit is fully Y-tested but only has mtDNA data from Geno 2.0.

                            • The Forum????

Threads were showing "New Messages", but no new messages indicated. Of course I could tell by the message time stamps there were new messages. Posted a reply to a message and my sign-in time stamp changed from yesterday to the current time resulting in the new message indicators all being turned off.

                              • [QUOTE=Rebekah Canada;379573]Hi,

These are the issues of which I am aware:[LIST][*]The site is very slow.
Its been impossible for 2 weeks now to get past the first page of matches in family finder for most of the kit numbers that I have tried. It is more than just slow and I think we are entitled to more detailed explanation of what is happening and when it its likely to be fixed. Is it a hardware upgrade that is needed? Are you getting a denial of service attack?
