Current Site Issues

Looks like the problem may have been that I was using internet explorer by accident. Now working in Google chrome.

Since about an hour ago, cannot log-in on Mac or iPad ... too funny ... got my Big Y results late last night, and now I can't see them ...

Caveat: I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8, an older OS version, thus not using the most current browser versions. Those mentioned below are the latest that work on this OS version.

I could not log in, either last night or this morning, at my usual https://my.familytreedna.com/login.aspx, using Opera 12.16 (used due to other issues with other DNA sites in other tabs - I like to keep them together). The login at https://www.familytreedna.com/login.aspx does not display the text fields in Opera, so I can't try that.

Although I can log in at either page with Firefox 27.01, myFTDNA has not displayed correctly for some time in it. But, I just now experimented with temporarily allowing all scripts, and reloading. That got it to display properly. I guess it's some script issue. When I revoke temporary script permissions, it reverts to the "bad display" look, which shows the header, navbar, and left column (Your Account, Messages, Release Notes, News) all correctly, but everything in the right column (buttons, badges, FF/Y/mt results) is under the bottom of the left column, leaving a large white space to the right of the left column.

I am able to use either login page with Safari 5.1.10, and pages seem to display properly. I do not use Chrome, or other browsers.

Still unable to log in directly, but if I follow a private message link backwards, I can at least get to this Forum. I've always had very easy access, and fast loading screens, using current Mac or iPad OS.

Not keen to add any other browsers ... I've been secure for many years since leaving IE behind. Our local College started using Chrome as the backbone for the internal email, and it has never worked well since ....

Oh well, sit and wait ... so what's new?

I was to early in my joy about the upload of GEDCOMS: what is not fixed, is the problem with German "Umlaute" like äöü and probably other special letters in other languages. Schade. But I hope FTDNA works on it.

GEDCOMs 99% Fixed

Yea. It is working. We have a ticket in to go back and reprocess the files with missing dates as all is good in stored GEDCOM. However, if yall want to delete and re-upload, that will work too. :-)

After uploading my GEDCOM I was given a code for a $10 coupon. I tried placing an order for a new kit but it said the code was invalid. I copied and pasted the code from the email. Another glitch?

Call customer service. They can place the order until the coupons are completely fixed.

Issue Updates for 20 March 2014

Hi,

These are the issues of which I am aware.

Fully or Partly Fixed

• The site is very slow. (Fixed?)
• It may not be possible to update all fields in your myFTDNA contact information. (Fixed?)
• GEDCOMs do not display all dates & places. (Fixed)
• GEDCOM viewer links point back to the user's GEDCOM. (Fixed?)
• Some paid and completed results are missing. (Fixed?)
• Match's profile boxes do not always completely load. (Fixed?)
• "New Member Order" under "Project Administration" on Gap page link does not add people to projects. (Will be fixed tomorrow.)

Not Yet Fixed

• Content from media.familytreedna.com should be SSL/https.
• Dates Completed and Last Match Dates on the myFTDNA homepage are wrong.
• BIG Y Results still show the Pending icon on the homepage after results are back.
• For mtFull results, FASTA download is broken.
• The Y-DNA Advanced STR page is broken.
• The site does not handle umlauts and other special characters.
• YSearch is the Detroit, Michigan of genetic genealogy.

What am I missing?

Will Gedcom's that were not displaying location and dates have to be re-uploaded or was it just that the dates and locations did not display?

Mine hadn't shown any places etc. I re uploaded it today and it now displays correctly.

I just tried to log in as GAP and the screen kept returning to the empty login screen. Just in case no one else has reported it.
