  • Current Site Issues

    Hi,

    These are the issues of which I am aware:
    • The site is very slow.
    • It may not be possible to update all fields in your myFTDNA contact information.
    • GEDCOMs do not display all dates & places.
    • GEDCOM viewer links point back to the user's GEDCOM.
    • Some paid and completed results are missing.
    • Results dates for Family Finder on home page incorrect.
    • mtDNA Results dates also wrong -- for "Completed" gives date update to FMS ordered, for "Last Match", gives date FMS completed - which is definitely NOT the date of last match.
    • Match's profile boxes do not always completely load.
    • "New Member Order" under "Project Administration" on Gap page link is broken and takes you to familytreedna.com home page.
    • Content from media.familytreedna.com should be SSL/https.
    • For mtFull results, FASTA download is broken.
    • YSearch has technical issues and will likely continue to have technical issues because of the age of the platform.


    What am I missing?

    Should also include all other Ysearch problems that have been mentioned over the last several years and not corrected.

        Current problems

        Currently unable to get past myftdna home page to any results.

        Results dates for Family Finder on home page incorrect.

            FASTA File Downloads are Disabled -- Error Message

            A project member informed me that she has been getting an error message each time she tries to download her mtDNA FASTA file. I checked the situation on my end and am also getting an error message, which says, "Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count." Prompt attention to this issue would be much appreciated!

              Hi,

              I am seeing them in the left sidebar for the kits am checking. Where are they missing for you?

                mtDNA FASTA Error

                Hi Martha,

                Could you see if she has mtFull results? We stopped allowing download of mtDNA and mtDNAPlus results some time ago, and she should not see the button to download if that is what she has.

                    From the left sidebar, on myFTDNA Home Page.

                    The words "Release Notes" appear, but all info has disappeared. Also see heading "News" - and in the box:
                    "No News available at this time."

                    Checked 6 kits, using Firefox -- same for all.
                    Checked one of them on Internet Explorer - same.

                    I access internet from Public Computers - on this one -
                    Using http://www.thismachine.info/ --
                    on Firefox, get: Firefox 24.0 - Windows 7
                    on IE get: Mozilla 5.0 - Windows 7
                    using http://supportdetails.com/
                    Firefox says same as before,
                    IE says "Internet Explorer 11.0" and Windows 7

                      FTDNA has recently employed HTTPS encryption on its site which depends on browser compatibility and correct browser security settings.

                      I have sometimes encountered connection problems with HTTPS websites when using computers at libraries.

                        Hi Rebekah,

                        The project member does have mtFull results. To check on what she reported, this evening, I attempted to download my own FASTA file (Full-sequence / FMS) and received the same error message that she did. Thanks for looking into this!

                          I am back to not being able to log in with google chrome. Just loops me back to the login screen.

                            Until they get this fixed you can delete the cookies for my.familytreedna.com

                            1. Goto Settings -> Show Advanced Settings -> Privacy - Content Settings -> Cookies - All cookies and site data

                            2. Search for my.familytreedna.com

                            3. Click on .FTDNAAuth

                            4. Click Remove

                            Repeat the above steps whenever you get stuck in the login loop
