Still taking a while. Kit was mailed back by about Jan 16 (maybe earlier). I forget the batch number it was finally assigned to, but 12 marker results not expected in until mid March (a whole month from now) and the rest of the markers not until March 30. I thought Y was faster than mtdna, but perhaps that was just a false assumtption. Hope i don't croak before the results are in; i really want to see some things about them.

I know of a kit that was mailed from Florida on Monday 1/16/2012. The email acknowledging receipt was dated 1/30/2012, which took about a week longer than expected, but the kit was then batched right after that on 2/1 - batch 449.

ok, thanks. that's the first time that's ever happened to me there. guess in the past i just got them at less busy times. Hasn't been assigned to a batch yet but at least its there. I guess these days the post office isn't so hot either with all the recent budget cuts; first class mail is of course supposed to be delivered within 5 days between most places but...

Normal with busy times i believe. I mailed mine first class from San Francisco, CA to Houston on dec 27th with the delivery date told to me by the postal worker to be the 29th. shipping code confirmed delivery friday 30th (new years eve weekend so understandably no staff working until tues the 3rd). I never got a FTDNA confirmation for a long time (jan 6th), until the day after i contacted them about the status of it, it sounded like they had a big stack of mail they hadn't gotten to yet. So, it sounds like yes, its normal to not receive a notification from FTDNA right away, even if if the mail has been delivered, i was worried there too that it had been lost. I believe the samples should be alright because they're contained in that solution that keeps it safe for temperature changes during shipping/mailing. There's another thread I've read that also says the Houston postal office/department is a big mess.

The most interesting thing to me was that it was batched on the 11th but didn't reach the lab until the 20th. due to the lab delay/construction maybe

    Hi ,
These days a kit can take 5-10 days for it to get to FTDNA being mailed within the USA .
The kit won't be affected it takes much longer for kits to be revived from other places outside the USA.
It happened to me more than once and even one time when I used delivery confirmation it got lost. the kit made it out of Boston Ma. but after that it did not turn up in Texas until a much longer time. When the post office called me to say they found it and it would be their the next day it was not it still took a couple of more days. The person who called me did not know where it was found at.
