    OK

    You are lucky you have a paper trail to Normandy France.

    Years ago my maternal grandmother told me her line was Norman English. I do have some proven Norman English lines on her side, but the furthest back I can trace the mitochondrial line is to Virginia.

    I have a small amount of French ancestry on my father's side too.

    Thank you rainbow. My maternal line is pretty well documented as coming from Normandy so I see no need for more detailed testing. These tests are expensive and looking at it from a benefit-risk point of view I will settle for plain H. My fathers line is different as the tree has apparent gaps. This is where I may sink more money depending on the results.

    My maternal line is H. I believe a common European haplotype

    Congratulations on getting your mtdna result, and so early.
    I am also an H (H1c).
    H is the most common haplogroup in Europe. It has lots (dozens?) of subclades.

    @mj1313,

    I, unfortunately, grew up with my biological family. My wife, on the other hand was adopted without any information. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you need advise on your search. I've spent many hours on this endeavor. You could be lucky and get your answers right away, or you may slowly become an expert as you dive deeper and deeper into the world of genetic genealogy.

    It is of course nice to see when someone from your batch gets results, though from my observation it doesn't guarantee that your result is also imminent. they can easily be spread out over a few weeks...
    The bolded is so true! LOL

    I got a 4th cousin match and 2 fifth cousin matches on Wednesday...but still waiting for the Population finder results...

    I understand now thanks , the wait is hard! I suppose it's a good way to deter people from calling to often asking where their test are. Since I am new to this I am spending as much time as I can reading so I will understand my results once they arrive.

    Delays

    It's mostly due to an update to the system. I've been waiting since the last week of November.

    I got a real good dose of what it feels like to be behind. My office has been closed for 3 days due to the blizzard here in OK. I finally made it in today for a while although the office is still closed...and i can see the next few days is going to be a nightmare.

    I'm still waiting patiently.
