    still waiting

Now May 21 and still waiting for my Family Finder results out of batch 354.

It took five months to get me my mtDNA FGS results. Sheesh, it isn't just grandmom's DNA that's so tough to decipher!

Hurrah! Results are in! And out of 10 matches, only 6 have surnames uploaded and only one other person looks like she stands a chance of actually being a match. She is classified as 4th cousin, all the remaining are classified as 5th cousin.

I *knew* this DNA was willful and headstrong!

          Batch 354

I received a notice that my results were going to be late - 5/17/10 date was moved to 6/4/10. I hope it doesn't move again.

            Batch 354

I'm waiting as well but I mailed my vials on May 12 so I didn't understand why I was assigned to a batch that was due on May 17. Very odd.

I recently got results from DNA Tribes that are either totally wrong or I'm not who I thought I was. Since I'm adopted and I'm trying to get a handle on my biological father's side, anything is possible. I would really like the FTDNA autosomal results soon so I can compare them to the DNA Tribes autosomal results.

12 weeks no results, no changed dates, no explanations. I caught the 23 & Me sale, all results returned in 3 weeks.

My DNA Tribes results had my best mathces? as Indian/Nepalese???
My family lineas are all European from England, Ireland and Denmark/Sweden. I dont think they are all that great on mixed ancestry.

Got my results, now if I could figure out how to open the files.

                    Oh well

At this time i've wasted money and time, one, yes only one 5th cousin match on my mothers side (the most documinted) of the family. I hope more info comes to light later. ;( disapointed

I hope you get more matches in the future, when more people take the test.

It is FAR too early to be disappointed in the Family Finder.

The days are very young and the database will grow.

Even if there are a couple of thousand tested for FF, it will be a very good tool.

I already have 2 confirmed cousins out of the 30 that show up.

It would be very nice if the bulk of them would add surnames or places.

Did you at least get high scores from your known places? I'm adopted but I know my birthmom. Birthdad information is what I'm trying to find out. Birthmom's family is Lithuanian-Jewish. No real info on her dad's family beyond they were from Minsk. I've got 20 exact mtDNA FGS matches that are right on the money for a Litvak maternal line. But my Ashkenazi score is pretty low. My scores for the British Isles are zero. I was told my birthfather was "of Irish extraction" but who knows how accurate that is. I'm hoping FF will shed some light.

I'm still waiting for my 27 marker update from DNA Tribes. It was expected yesterday.
I emailed again yesterday, around 6pm, asking about it. I was sent a reply around 7 or 8 am, but only just checked my email maybe a half hour ago. Lab processing is still under way and my results are expected "early this coming week and have been marked for priority processing as soon as your lab work becomes available." And I was offered a choice of "an additional free $24.99 Add-On (Native American Panel, Central Asian Panel, African Panel, or Extended Match Results) or future update to your analysis. This can be redeemed at any time of your choice by contacting" ....
Isn't that nice? I wonder if I should opt for the Central Asian panel, or a future update. I already get the Native American and extended panels. The Central Asian panel info is just an organized list of specific populations that are in the extended, but it would save time and make it easier to read (won't have to search for each one).

Isn't it odd how FTDNA had severe FGS delays, and 23andme had sample mix-ups, and DNA Tribes has delays? All seem to have had some sort of lab problem. I wonder if they all use the same lab, or if it's just a fluke. It's probably just a fluke.
