  • Batch 354

    Family Finder(FamilyFinder) 05/17/2010

I hope this is more fruitful then my yDNA or mtDNA have been. It has been interesting but useless so far for genealogy.

      Batch 354

I am also in batch 354. I'm curious about the results. I had some luck with the Y-DNA but none with the mtDNA.

I hate to wish my life away, but I'm just too impatient waiting for these results!

I wish time would just hurry up, quit taking up my precious time and make it to Mid May already.

            batch 354

            me, too!

Have done FGS and got 1 match, no common relative yet.

Results on YDNA from my mom's side no matches on 37 markers.

Results on YDNA from my dad's side, a couple matches on 67 makers, but no common relative yet. Unable to contact the one who is apparently the best match.

My tree is pretty well documented back to the level family finder will check for, but hoping to find some males in some of these lines to break down a brick wall!

I'm in this one for Family finder aswell. Not sure what to expect for matches.

My family goes back to UK and Denmark/Sweden, and is well documented on most lines from c1750 onwards. (My ancestors didnt leave Europe until 1840s-1920s.)
No Americans in my known family, but I'm sure some relatives probably have moved over there.
I'm hoping to pick up some matches on the lines not already covered by other testing, 2 x mtDNA and 5 x yDNA.

I have to agree about the mtDNA being rather useless, for the purpose of finding relatively recent relatives.

My significant other has had some (though rather limited) success with his yDNA.

But I think the Family Finder will end up being more practical if one wants to find cousins within the past few hundred years (provided some of those cousins have also had the test). My S.O. has already been contacted by a 4th cousin who looked at his gedcom and figured out the common ancestry.

                  My father's in this batch.

He was born in England, but has mainly Irish ancestry. We've been able to trace his paternal line back to early 19th c. eastern County Clare.

Since I see another person in another batch sequenced after this one (355) has already received all 67 of his YDNA-markers back... I'm now curious to know, how many here in this batch (354) has received any or all (or none) of their Y-DNA results?

I have a project member with Y67 in Batch 354 who has received no results as yet, as well as one in Batch 353 who has just today received panels 1 & 2.

                        When were these ordered?

I ordered the SuperDNA package on 3/22/2010.

Based on what I'm reading on this forum, it's starting to seem as if FTDNA just sort of randomly picks out a kit number from a hat and then proceed to test, regardless of when the kit was ordered.

I'm sure there is a better explanation, but I'm just too damned enamored with DNA and genealogy at the moment, that I must scrutinize every little atom of detail and understand why D comes before A, C, and X in their processing! It clearly isn't FIFO oriented.

These were both new kits, so the date returned is the important one, however both were ordered during the 2nd week of March. The kit in Batch 353 was received by FTDNA on 03/24 and the one in Batch 354 on 03/31.

That's great xerxes. I am waiting for my results on the 354 Family Finder. FTDNA gave me an estimated date of 17 May. Three more weeks to go
