My FGS results are now bumped to 5/7/10 with a long note explaining they've received a lot more orders than expected.. need to maintain quality etc... no problem I can wait.

My FF test came in almost 2 weeks early..

YES my result are in !!! YEAH !!!

[QUOTE=WebHunter;216193]I waiting for the family finder test of my mother (Adopted). I send a e-mail to some staff at familytree DNA and that is the respond they send me back. I'm aware that is the beta phase for this test and we pay less because of that so i dot mind waiting a little more.

      ---- E-mail ----

Dear XXxxxXX, Thank you for your email. The Family Finder tests are running a couple weeks behind since the lab has been tweaking the lab process for these tests as results of the Beta testing to come up with the best possible process. We should see these results by the end of this month provided everything looks good in quality control.

Given FTDNA's record on ETAs I wouldn't be putting money on it.

I would recommend contacting us at [email protected] so we can look into your specific kit number.

Yes, I am in definite agreement. I am fed up. I seriously am fed up. I paid good money, as we have all, and have received absolutely nothing but delay after delay after delay.

4 months waiting on deep clade and the results are still not complete.

5.5 months for FGS and I have not even received HVR1 results yet!

2.5 months for my "beta" Family Finder with no idea as to when that is expected. I am batch #348 and did not even have to submit a new sample. It was ready to go!!

I am extremely unhappy. I will have strong reservations before ever doing business with FTDNA again. And I will make it known to all, of my experience.

Just on that aspect, there's a post on DNA-Forums reporting that a project member's haplotree page contains this message:

"Deep Clade Upgrade - We are in the process of restructuring the method of testing of the deep clade extended tests. While we redesign the process for these tests, we will stop offering them for a few weeks. We appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support."

I'm waiting to hear if anybody else awaiting deep clade extended results has seen that message.

My FF test came in earlier this week.

Of all the tests I've ordered from FTDNA, about half the time the results were early and half the time the results were late. The most spectacular delay was with my FGS results, which did take several extra months. That was a year or so ago.

My impression--and it's just an impression and I could be wrong--is that complicated and large-scale tests are more likely to have delayed results than simple and small-scale ones. I assume this is due to quality control issues, though that's just my assumption.

Frustrating though it is to wait, I'd much rather have accurate results a month late than inaccurate results a month early. More communication from FTDNA about the reason behind the delays would be nice.

I really hope everyone in this batch, and all the other batches, gets results soon. The larger the database, the better it is for all of us.

There is that, but I think the overriding issue is that FTDNA accepts far more orders for an increasingly large range of products than it can hope to process in a reasonable time period with its existing staffing level.

Yes to that. They are quick to take money, but leisurely in delivering results. My batch 348 FF results are still not in, no update, conflicting explanations, the usual shoddy customer service I've grown to expect from this company. I can't believe they're accepting new orders when they're still backlogged from the first beta batches.

As far as autosomal matching goes, I can't recommend FTDNA. I steer friends to 23andme.

It was reported to me that FTDNA's CEO said in conversation at a recent event that he sees "his first priority is to ensure that all these [FTDNA] people have a job". On that basis, it's understandable why they keep generating orders.

I'd have preferred his first priority to be customer satisfaction. I guess that's the essential philosophical difference between a business and a laboratory.

They have use of our money for a long period of time without delivering anything, not even accurate status updates. I love the fact that they offer the mtDNA FGS and potentially the largest database available and Family Finder, etc., and I certainly don't want them to go out of business but something definitely needs fixing in their organization.

In many technical/scientific organizations the business/customer service side often comes second in senior management oversight to the technical. Unless senior management is directly reminded of customer dissatisfaction, they are blind to it because it often gets filtered from them by the lower levels. All they are allowed to hear is favorable news.

A good indication of a CEO's focus or otherwise on customer satisfaction is the use of frequent random surveys that he/she designs and reviews directly.

Are the copycat web sites finished with their commercials yet?.
I have had every test done on FTDNA and have had no problems.
I'm batch 354. They gave me an expect date and I'm sure they will meet the deadline.
You must be talking about the other guys.
