A delay of a few weeks is not unknown. Have you tried emailing them?

      hi gtc,

The email response was, that I was being tested for a large number of SNPs and the results could be delayed a couple of weeks, as they do not want to compromize their standards. I did not want to start an argument on whether they knew the number of SNPs I was testing before they posted those estimated dates on my results pending page? So I am just waiting and venting here.

I dont think anybody at FTDNA is really aware of the discomfort caused by such delays. Otherwise, it is not like they dont know there is a comment section on the results pending page where they could update us on what is causing a delay, if they cared.

        One month delay

It is November 16 and I still have not got my results due Oct 21. Who says you have to be talented to make the Guinness Book of World Records?

          still waiting

My results are going to be a month and a half past due soon. I was wondering, is it possible the delay is being caused because they are testing me for SNPs in some study, that I did not order?

That's quite a long time past due now.

Exactly what deep clade test did you order? How many SNPs are involved?

I ordered the standard deep clade extended for haplogroup J2. These are approx. 12 or 13 snps, including L24, L25, L26 and L27 etc ...There were twice as many when I got the backbone test a couple of years ago to confirm I was a J2. So, I really dont understand what they mean when they say I am being tested for a lot of snps. By the way, I called and emailed FTDNA and was told there was nothing wrong with my sample.

This is what my results pending page states, as of today:

              Deep Clade Extended C(L24) 10/26/2009 325
              Deep Clade Extended C(L25) 10/26/2009 325
              Deep Clade Extended C(L26) 10/26/2009 325
              Deep Clade Extended C(L27) 10/26/2009 325

              Deep Clade Extended C(M289) 10/21/2009 325
              Deep Clade Extended C(M318) 10/21/2009 325

As you can see in the linked haplotree, J2 has many subclades and many of those seem to be defined by a single SNP, so it looks like they are chasing all the way down the tree in your case until one of the subclades is fully is identified as yours.

                  I got some results

Today, I got confirmation I am positive for L26, the SNP that defines the subclade J2a4. I am very happy, because I am not expecting to test positive for any of the downstream markers in this panel.

There are quite a few on your test list below the J2a4 node. Have they told you any which are negative? If you look on your haplotree page then under the tree should be a list of SNPs that are positive and negative.

The list says nothing about being negative on any of the snps I am being tested on.

The result pending page now looks like this, suggesting they are still testing me on all the other snps:

                      Deep Clade Extended C(L24) 10/26/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(L25) 10/26/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(L27) 10/26/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(M289) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(M318) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(M319) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(M340) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(M419) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(P279) 10/21/2009 325
                      Deep Clade Extended C(P81) 10/21/2009 325

I doubt I will be positive on any of them, except possibly L27. If I am found negative for L27, I think I could help identify a new branch in the J2a tree, which would be kind of kool too.

                        Vial B

Just spoke to Nick at FTDNA who tells me they were getting inconclusive results from my sample in vial A and have now begun testing vial B. I should have my results in another two weeks, according to him.

I'd have been a wreck by now.

End of this week my results will be two months past the due date. I am ready to explode. lol

Just got result on a L26 downstream marker, I am also L27+

It is nice to exhale once again. lol.

The ISOGG tree has L26 and L27 on the same branch, so I guess if you're one then you're the other, too. Seems odd that FTDNA have listed tests for both.

Assuming no negatives already then still plenty of downstream markers left in your list.
