  • Batch 280 L21

I have been notified today, Wednesday 10/22/08 that my L21 test is part of Batch 280 with results due 12/8/08. I ordered my L21 on the day FTDNA announced they would be testing it. I'm certain there are many first round L21 testers in this batch!

    Let the waiting begin!

    Thanks, Miles

There are at least 68 L21 orders in this batch - probably quite a few more. This will be a fun release

Yep, Batch 280 will be much anticipated. Hope the results come early, but "a watched pot never boils."

Since FTDNA has updated its y haplotree to include P312 (rs34276300), hopefully that will be included in your Deep Clade-R test.

I'm in Batch 280, as well

            Hi everyone,

The date they gave me for the L21 batch is 12/08/08. I'm happy to say I'm one of those 68, Rick!

After looking at "My Matches" under the "Y-DNA Haplotree" on my FTDNA personal page, I'm betting I'll be L21 negative. The reason for this is I only have a few matches with P312 subclade 5 (M222), more matches with subclades 3 (M153) and 4 (SRY2627) and a lot of matches with subclade 7 (U152). All of these except M222 (which I only have a few matches with) will test negative for L21.
I also have no matches listed for P312 subclades 1 (M37), 2 (M65) or 6 (P66) and all of these will test positive for L21. That is why I'm betting my results will be L21 negative. Tell me what you think of this and also take a look at your matches and see if you show a similar pattern.

I can't figure out how to edit my above post so I am pointing out an error. M65 will test negative for L21. I still believe I'll be negative for L21.

I think you have a good chance of being L21+, Don. All of the P312+ clades you named are very similar in haplotypes, which seems to indicate that P312 experienced a rapid expansion at some point and a rapid differentiation into the lineages characterized by the SNPs you named.

In other words, you could have a haplotype similar to some of those in an L21- clade and still be L21+ just because P312+ haplotypes are not all that diverse to begin with.

Batch 280 will be highly anticipated. I and a few others have our I-L22 test samples in there.

I know of at least one guy who has samples for both L21 and L22 in Batch 280!

He's an I1, and his maternal grandfather is R-P312*.

                            L21+

Got my results today . . . early.

                            I'm L21+.

I was wrong with my prediction (see my earlier post/this thread). My test results are back and I'm L21 +. That makes me more closely related to M37, M222 and P66 than I am to M65, M153, M167 or U152. Hopefully this test (L21) will help to start breaking M269 down into some sort of geographic area as to origins.
