The second guy seems to have a rare haplotype with only five 12/12 matches and is a not-so-confidently-predicted J2, so I suggested the deep-clade test and upgrade to 37 markers. His daughter quickly agreed on his behalf
Hmm, 37-67 is still showing an earlier target date than 26-37. Sounds like an error to me!
This is actually the first batch thread I've ever started.
I would have started it earlier, but I had trouble getting into my personal page to verify that my upgrade had made it into this week's lab batch.
Ok, I guess you're allowed to start ONE batch I actually think the batch was closed out very shortly before you posted, since I checked not too long ago and it hadn't closed yet.

I'm not anxious for the 21st of August to come. I go back to work on the 28th.
I hear ya. I'll be at the IAJGS conference (Jewish genealogy) in NYC from August 13-18 and am giving a hands-on "Genealogy on the Internet" workshop that I'm nowhere near finished developing yet So I don't want August to come *too* soon, but I better get moving, as I only have a month to go...

Good luck with your conference. I'm sure it will be great.
I need to get off this forum and spend some more time doing the hard work of trying to track down my ancestors the new old-fashioned way. I've also got to enter the info into PAF that my wife dragged out of her mom in Russia.

Thanks! You just have to multi-task. I often have up to 10 tabs (using Firefox) open at a time on different websites and flip between them Well, at least when I'm home. Can't do that at work!
I am happy to report that my cousin's DNA sample will now undergo a Deep SNP-R1b test. It is in Batch 160 due 8/21/06. His testing for YHapBackbone has been floundering since they found he was M343+ P25- (Batch 143 due 4/19) so perhaps this will finally produce answers.

I've wondered about that from time to time since you mentioned it a while back.
What's your own situation in that regard? Did you get M269+ after all?
Forgive me if you've already posted that and I missed it.

Nothing changed in the six weeks since they told me they would be testing for M269. The due date remained 4/19 on my personal page. So, I contacted FTDNA and they said they can't check the status because it is in the "science" testing group at the lab and they have no way to track its progress so they are giving me a complimentary deep snp test and it says on my personal page I am now in batch 160. I am uncertain what "science testing group" means. And, if it is in the science testing group how can it also be in batch 160 unless they will be working with two separate samples.

It's nice that you got a free Deep SNP-R1b test out of the deal, even though you've had to wait a long time. I guess your earlier test went to the "science testing group' because of the unusual situation relative to P25.
I guess they must have enough of your y-dna worked up to use a separate sample for Batch 160.
I suspect they have already created a clone of you who is working now as a laboratory slave (there is probably one of me there, too).
Believe it or not, one of my project members just received results for markers 13-25 from this batch! It's only 18 days after the batch creation date and the target date wasn't until mid-August -- so this is REALLY early.
He still has 26-37 and a DeepSNP-J pending, both due mid-August.
