I'm still waiting on my cousin's 48-60. The hold-up is DYS 425. My cousin will have a NULL there, as does everyone else that he matches. The problem with reporting a NULL is that the test they do for DYS 425 'fails'. And instead of accepting that failure immediately as a NULL, they have to double and triple check it, to ensure that it's really a NULL and not just a failed test.
I also have project members who had DSNP-R1b tests in batches 143 and 152 that are still pending, waiting on the same two SNPs. I wonder if they have a similar problem with these SNPs as with the NULL at DYS 425. For example, if the results are +, then the primer should have no problem identifying it, but if the results are -, then the primer doesn't find it, the test essentially fails and they have to re-run it several times to confirm? Anyone know?
I'm now over a month past due for my Deep SNP-I test and like all others I've seen, are being rerun. Probably have about two or three more months to wait . I personally think they have had some serious systems failure in their tests that they perhaps are trying to address.
It just seems odd that for the last few months nearly all of the Deep Clade tests have had to be rerun, no matter the haplogroup. And to make matters more unsure, we get absolutely no update unless we inquire and then it appears to be a blanket, coverall statement with promises of a couple of weeks more. Bah! Not very good customer service.....

Very true.
Overall I have been pleased with what FTDNA has done for me, but I don't like being left hanging over a couple of SNPs. I especially do not like being given a date that turns out to look like merely a stalling tactic.
The honest approach - "Hey, we're having problems! We do not know when you'll get your results!" - is something I would appreciate and understand.
Honesty about dates, etc., would certainly been a great step forward in terms of customer service. All my other results have either been early or ontime, but still we deserve, as paying customers, honest responses to our queries. If they don't know, then so be it. Just tell us......
[QUOTE=Stevo]Still no M37 or P66 results from my rapidly aging Deep SNP-R1b test in this batch.
The last email I got from FTDNA said to expect P66 results around September 15 I read from time to time that a new batch (so and so number) has been created. Different people report different batches. I'm just curious and no evil is intended. What is the purpose for these announcements and how do people get selected to do this. Do they volunteer FTDNA must contact them as this would be the source of the info. What else can you tell me? Bob (N2386)

Batches are created every Wednesday, composed of all test orders placed (and paid for) since the previous Wednesday. Orders are then sent to the lab in these batches. All FTDNA customers can see their batch numbers on their Pending Results tab, so anyone can create the batch thread. The batch threads simply serve as virtual waiting rooms for test results
