I like Italy, but my own ancestors may have come from Germany (can't be sure about that yet, though).

Well, if either one of them wins the whole show, I'll be happy.

I'm not a big fan of the French, although they are a good team.

I'll be pulling for Portugal in that one.

(Wish I could play in the World Cup myself!)
    No problem at all Stevo

you're absolutely free to support any team you want, afterall it's just a game

as some (not me ) say...

I know it will be very hard for us, we play against all odds.

I hope Portugal beats France too, but on the other hand I can't help

thinking how sweet it would be to crush the French on the off chance Italy gets to

    the final

That'll never happen I couldn't even get my brother to pay for his own test! Though I probably could have if I had tried harder -- I just wanted him to do the test, so I didn't really care who paid. On the other hand, I paid for my grandfather's test and told my grandmother that if she sends me a check, I would rip it up. Well that didn't deter her, she sent me the check anyway (although I never told her the full amount, thankfully). I didn't want my grandparents to pay.

    Oh well.

I was sad to see England lose, as well, and the way they lost, on penalty shots, was a real shame. I was also sorry to see the Netherlands fall.

You Scots have beat understanding into them a few times. I think they get the picture!

Yeah, since Mike O'Connor cut way way back on his posting, the ol' Alumni Batch Lore Pad is not what it used to be.

I'm trying to keep it alive.

It seems a lot of folks come here to the FTDNA Forum and wile the time away and ask questions when the are awaiting their first results. Then they seem to disappear.

I've noticed that trend in reading some of the old threads on the back pages, as well. A lot of fairly knowledgable folks are no longer active here.

    It's sad.

Tell your grandfather and your brother to start posting!

France beat and thereby eliminated Spain 3-1 in their World Cup match.

That was a shocker to me. I thought the Spanish would crush the French team.

    School's Out For Summer!!!

    YEAH, BABY!!!

I took my three-year-old with me to work today for the last workday for us teachers. She was good as gold and then fell asleep on the train coming home.

Lately the @#$%^&* VRE has been running late every doggoned day.

Today I thought we would be home really early, since we caught the train that was supposed to leave at 13:14. The trip home normally takes one hour. Today it was a miserable, sweaty 2.5 hours.

I got a free ride ticket out of it, but that does not make up for the suffering.

Well, I'm off for the summer. No more riding the train until the end of August.

    Whoopee!

We have a new member in my surname project. Maybe his test results will come in and we'll match.

That was the obligatory DNA-related portion of this post.

Team USA is out of the World Cup.

    Oh, well . . .

Italy beat the Czech Republic. The poor showing by the Czechs really surprised me, as did Germany's manhandling of Ecuador.

I am enjoying the World Cup, but I make no predictions as to the final outcome.

I just hope some team knocks off Brazil.

About my Deep SNP-R1b in Batch 155.

The results are targetted for July 17. It's a funny thing, though: This time I'm not in a hurry or impatient at all.

Yes, I am looking forward to the results, but I am not wanting the summer to pass by too fast. As a teacher, I am off for the summer starting tomorrow afternoon.

I don't want to rush any of it.

So July 17, take your time getting here.

    Wow!

The Netherlands and Argentina played to a scoreless tie today!

    Way to go, Netherlands!

I really thought the Argentines would roll over the Dutch team. I was glad to get home from my long train ride (I missed the game because of it) and find out the Netherlands did not lose.

I saw most of the Portugal/Mexico game. It was pretty exciting. Portugal has a pretty good team.

Watching soccer helps me wait patiently for my Deep SNP-R1b test in Batch 155.

There. This post was about dna after all.

Today Switzerland plays Togo, Ukraine plays Saudi Arabia, and Spain plays Tunisia.

I make no predictions as to the eventual victors, although I think Spain has a pretty good team and I would like to see Ukraine win at least one game.

DNA testing takes too long, doesn't it?

I'm sure the day will probably come when you will be able to put your hand on a screen and get a complete dna analysis in a minute or two and a complete list of your ancestors back to the advent of surnames and any ancient and prehistoric remains that have been tested.
