Maybe when your ancestors came to Britain from Scandinavia they didn't even have a surname.

      That's certainly a possibility.

I got the 26-37 markers for my uncle. His closest match is a genetic distance of 10 (at 37 markers).

I also got my 26-37 today. I have one 33/37 match, different surname though.

            Congratulations on your results!!!

            Congratulations, Paul!

You got all 37 markers already?

            LUCKY!!!

He must have been sitting up near the front of the class

Thanks, Stevo. Yeah, but I still have markers 38-67 to go. I'm wondering now if I needed to get so many markers. I guess I won't have to upgrade on the "Y" side for a while

Are you still waiting for some of yours?

                  Yeah, I guess so.

His I1a values must have been pretty straightforward.

I guess my own markers are not as clear.

The R1b Project has me listed as R1, even though FTDNA has predicted R1b1 and YSEARCH has me listed as R1b1. The Steffen Project (separate from the Stevens/Stephens Project) also has me down as R1.

Hey, if it turns out that I am really R1a, don't I get my SNP test for free or something like that?

Yeah, I'm still waiting for markers 26-37. That's all I ordered: the Y-37 test.

If you read my last post, you know that apparently there is some question of whether I am R1b1 or R1a.

FTDNA predicted R1b1, so I'll put my money behind that.

I'll be ordering the deep SNP thing soon. I haven't got any significant matches, so more markers doesn't seem to be the way to go.

I saw your R1 listing. That is interesting. I don't know how the freebee works.

I noticed the same thing, my personal page says "I1a", but when I go to copy the y-dna results from the GAP page, it only says "I". Does that mean they're not sure on the "1a" part?

It's just not fair, Stevo. You've been waiting longer than me. I hope they get you all figured out soon!

                            Hmmm . . . I guess I am not alone then.

Maybe there is a problem with those project pages. That is probably the case.

Have you run your markers through Whit Athey's Y-haplogroup Predictor here?

I did, and mine produced a score of 66 for R1b. Any score of 50 or over is supposed to be strongly indicative of membership in that y-haplogroup.

If you run yours through, let us know what kind of score you get, if you don't mind.

we were goofing around at the back of the class. Just a couple detentions. Nothing serious

As far as ysearch goes, don't you input that yourself? I actually did not put one in, because I wasn't sure if I should put "I" or "I1a". Maybe they're sketchy on this because they want you to order the deepdish pizza.
