  • Arena (American )football. There is the regular league (af). Then the developmental league (af2), (22 teams). This championship game today is for af2. Spokane just got an af2 expansion team this year. It's the first time an expansion team did well enough to get to the championship (except of course the first year of af2). 50 yard field (inside an arena with padded sides where the out of bounds lines would be). Eight man team. It's fast & usually high scoring - 45, 50 & 60 points per team common, sometimes 70 points. The closest team to Virginia is the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in PA, or the Louisville Fire in Kentucky. I just want to see what the autosomal test does say for us---

Louisville is a long way from here. Scranton is about a four-hour drive, I think, since it takes three to get to Philly.

My next dna test will be mtDNA, I think, unless they come out with some new, fabulous, must-have y-dna upgrade.

      • When do you think you will do your mtdna testing ? The Spokane Shock won ! The score was 57 to 34. They had to play without 2 of our regular guys for the whole game(1 injury & the other got married today) + 1 got injured in the 1st quarter & 1 got ejected from the game in the 3rd quarter, & they still dominated. The roster is only 25. The Columbia Complex fire is up to 66,000 acres with many ordered to evacuate...

        • I may order an mtDNA test around Christmas, if I can talk Santa into it as a gift. Otherwise it will have to wait until even later, maybe as late as next summer.

          I don't miss Western fires.

My youngest brother is a Captain on a fire department in Northern California. He used to be heavily involved in all that when he was younger. Now he is more of an administrator and trainer of new recruits.

          • I love living in Washington state. The only things you have to worry about are forest fires, volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and lahars. None of those pesky tornadoes or hurricanes.

            • I'm up here on Canada's Atlantic Province.. Prince Edward Island.

You guys can keep all those weather conditions. yikes!

I just have to deal with getting snow-bound a few times each winter.

I guess if you want to live in warmth you have to pay for it somehow.

                • I thought this thread would have been way over 1000 posts by now.

                  • If we can flip the page, we'll be on page 100.

                    Another milestone for batch 147.

                    • Ok I want to give you a little help, 147ers

Ehi Ragnar, any news from that half Italian nephew of yours? Did you give him the test kit?

                        • All right!

Several more posts since I last looked!

We are slowly but surely inching our way to the much-desired 1,000-post mark.

If I was a bit younger I think I would move to Canada (or Alaska). I like cool weather. I have some reservations about the Canadian government (too pc), but then again, I have plenty of reservations about my own government!

I wonder if I will ever hear about M37 and P66 from my now rapidly-aging SNP test (Batch 155).

I shouldn't complain, though. FTDNA has been right on time or early with everything for me but those two stubborn SNPs.

I'll order an mtDNA test from them sometime in the near future.

                          • Well, tomorrow is my due date for my Batch 161 DSNPs (I). I hope the so called reporting errors have been resolved....

As far as living in North America, life is pretty typical across the board. Remember you guys would be Canadians too if you wouldn't have had that tea party.
life is good..as long as people can work and be free...and they can get all their snp's

Very true. I certainly enjoyed the two vacations I have spent in Canada in the past, both very memorable.

When I retire (when? oh, when?), I want to find some place cheap and pretty.

I've heard of some Americans who have taken their retirements to Poland, where one can live like a king on an American retirement.

Guess I should learn to speak Polish.

Slovakia might be nice, as well, or the Czech Republic.

                                Excellent beer over there.
