    Soon.....

We won't have to wait long now. I say that with my fingers crossed, but once it hits the sequencing part it goes pretty quick. The one I'm waiting for in batch 147, it took me FOREVER to find a person from this line to agree to test, and each day has been agonizing LOL. We've been waiting for this for over a year. Now I'm starting to REALLY get excited

I imagine that your timeline would be the same as for the rest of us. You just may not get all your results at once.

Going by averages from recent batches...
From Batch Creation to Isolation Facility: 3 days
From Isolation Facility to Sequencing: 14 days
From Sequencing to Results: 23 days

and that last one is a killer since there won't be updates to your personal page for quite some time!

Also, based on these same averages, we seem to be right on track... that is, if we're average! Statistically, it can be shown that NOBODY is average!!!

        Thanks, JT.

I appreciate the ballpark figure for results. It gives me some idea of what to expect, although I realize things can take longer.

Is it 23 days to all 37 markers?

Can I expect the first twelve markers a bit earlier?

I would imagine that it would be average 23 days (currently) for the first dozen markers to be returned. The second sweep through I'd guess would be the extra few days to a week for the remainder of your markers to come back. I'm expecting a 25-marker result from this batch so I'm in the same boat. Not too bad a wait really if you consider that, just a few years ago, we didn't even have the privilege of waiting on DNA test results because these kinds of things just weren't possible or affordable then!

Thanks very much for your input, JT. It's a big comfort to me to have some sort of timeline, even though I realize it's not carved in stone.

We do live in an exciting time in many ways. Thank God for this new technology of DNA testing. Just imagine what these FTDNA folks will be able to tell people 10 years from now!

They will be able to confirm the new notable condition called
"Inherited Rabid Impatience Syndrome "(IRIS) to our generations to come....as they wait impatiently for confirmation that they are the descendants of us..

How about a batch progress table?

You're welcome, Stevo! That's exactly the same way I felt about it so I burned some time looking into the progress of recent batches. There's a lot of questions about "how long", "where's my results", and so on. I'm surprised there isn't a FAQ page with a simple table of dates for the recent batches showing dates of creation, isolation, sequencing, etc. Everyone from all the recent batches knows the dates on their personal pages. As batches close out, they drop off the table. Simple. It'd give people someplace to go and monitor for themselves. Admin would have time then to answer other kinds of questions. Example: Could you imagine how the crowds would harrass the ticket agents at an airport if there weren't big boards showing flight status? How would any tickets get sold!?

I checked the "Calendar" link here also. There's two calendars: Public and Batch. In the public calendar there's literally hundreds of birthdays and so on. The batch calendar is blank. It looks as if there's no one assigned then to the task of making batch progress publicly available. The calendar would work but I'd still prefer a single page with a simple table.

By the way, melissa is correct about how sequencing goes very quickly but only some of the time. Say 23 days from sequencing to results returned on the first twelve markers. (Then another 12 markers every few days thereafter). Well, sometimes a week longer and sometimes a week shorter than 23 days wait. Lately it seems results are coming usually sooner than later for most people. A few times they have results returned very early, like less than two weeks (but that's a small minority). Keep your fingers crossed!

                      Jim -

                      You're taking us too seriously.

I'm enjoying myself, and I think the others are too.

And I'm old enough to know how to wait for things.

Mostly I'm just kidding around and reading these threads to learn about DNA testing.

                      Peace!

Thanks again, JT. That sounds hopeful.

Things are going well, it seems to me, although I agree with you.

Alrighty then! We'll leave it at seven weeks. And I apoligize to Denning for trying to help by giving ballpark figures, even though I wouldn't exactly call it nuts to look for a rough guide as to what's going on. The "nuts" stuff would stop if the basic information was simply made available.

                            I appreciate your efforts, JT.

I hope you will continue to post here at the FTDNA forum. This thing (the forum, that is) moves kind of slowly at times. I've noticed there are folks who have been members for a couple of years but only have a handful of posts.

This DNA testing stuff is new and fascinating to me. I'm learning a lot, and I find the discoveries of others interesting, regardless of what my own haplogroup turns out to be or when it is I find out.

Oh, and I think it is cool that our own dear Batch 147 thread has gone bananas!

Thanks, Stevo - glad I could help. It's an investment (like buying a house) and I just think better guides could be made available to answer the basic questions so many people have... and I'll leave it at that.

I suppose I will post occasionally and yeah, looks like the thread has gone a bit bananas! It's all good! See what happens when people start asking questions?! Cullens!! Always gotta be different!

I run the Cullen Genealogy Homepage also and have plenty of work to do there, including a page soon for the DNA aspect of things. It is fascinating. Limited right now in what it can tell us - but give it time! I see plenty of potential in it and we're lucky to be part of it right now. Got our feet in the water when the technology's still young.
