  • In the Ysearch database, I do find these persons of Hg G:

AT5U9: 25 markers, Mecca, Saudi Arabia
    P26RS: 11 markers, Sabbah, Lebanon
    DZUU5: 12 markers, Nicosia, Cyprus
    AEMP5: 12 markers, Firenze, Israel

This person may also be of Hg G:
    QQNP5, 25 markers, Bethlehem, Jordan

Unfortunately, I don't see any 37-marker G haplotypes from the Middle East.

This is still a mystery to me. I'm just an average "girl".... I'm fairly literate, been to college, was a journalist for many years and thought I could get the jist of just about anything. But understanding all the results of the yDNA tests is simply beyond my comprehention. Is there anyone you know of who can maybe sit with me and explain the meaning of all the tests?
I don't know who the Alans are, nor do I know the Samartians.
I guess I'm a dolt. World history was not my best subject.
I know where my grandfather's "people" came from. I know that as far back any we all know they were Jewish, as we are now and have always been on both sides. I know they were from Ukraine/Poland/Russia. That's it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Honestly, I don't know that much about dna. I just looked at the G Tree at the ISOGG web site and went down its list of SNPs, comparing them to the ones that have been reported to you. As it is, I missed P15, the SNP for G2 (too early in the morning when I posted that).

I do know some history, since that was my major in college. I was kidding around about the Alans and Sarmatians, since I do not really wholeheartedly agree with some of the theories about how G2 was spread to Central and Western Europe.

Some of it, in my opinion, could have been spread by the Alans and Sarmatians, but that is far from certain. It seems to me it is just as if not more likely to have been spread to Europe during the Neolithic Expansion.

As far as I am concerned, the jury is still out on those issues and is likely to be out for a long long time.

I'm waiting for the same SNPs you are - M37 and P66 - but in a different batch (155).

Just about all the R1b1s are waiting on the same two SNPs.

But I got my partial results way early. My original target date was July 17th.

          • I spent the day with my family at King's Dominion (a large amusement park north of Richmond, Virginia). It was fun, if hot and sweaty.

I took my wife and three-year-old daughter. My youngest son (I have two grown sons) and his family came, including my two grandkids (yes, I have a three-year-old daughter AND two grandkids - a boy and a girl - AND a third grandkid on the way!).

My eldest son is engaged to a girl who is half Greek (mother's side) and half French (father's side). Maybe they'll start cranking out some grandkids for me soon.

My youngest son's wife is Russian, from my wife's hometown (we introduced them).

Well, that takes care of a lot of my personal info that none of you wanted to know!

Batch 147 just keeps on keepin' on!

                    Congrats, now you're a grandpa.

I'm writing from the beach in Coronado CA. Beautiful out here. I'm originally from the other coast, but live in Scottsdale and vacation outside San Diego.

I know Coronado fairly well. When I was a kid we lived in San Diego because my Dad was in the Navy and stationed at North Island.

I used to belly-board in the surf at Silver Strand.

What I recall of Arizona are cactuses and intense, oven-like heat.

That is very true. That Arizona heat will turn your skin into beef jerky in pretty short order!

                          in Winslow, Arizona

Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
                          gonna save me . . .

                              One of mine, too.

Didn't Jim Denning try to sing one of their songs to us when we first started posting on this Batch 147 thread?

                              Take it Easy . . . !
