I was delayed by budget constraints and family business.

Today my wife became a U.S. citizen!

We spent all day up in Fairfax at the U.S.C.I.S. (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service). She passed her test with a score of 100%, so they told her to come back at 3:30pm for the swearing in ceremony.

We live too far from Fairfax to fight Beltway traffic an extra time in the same day, so we hung around all day: we ate at Boston Market, walked around at Tyson's Corner Mall and bought some junk for my daughter. I even picked up Smolenyak's and Turner's book on DNA and genealogy (I forget the title at the moment; the book's on the dresser in my bedroom).

A whole bunch of folks were sworn in as U.S. citizens with my wife. It was cool.

    I'm worn out.

It's amazing our three-year-old behaved as well as she did. She zonked out in her carseat on the way home.

Now I feel that I may zonk out in front of this computer.
    Congrats to the Mrs.!

    Todd

    Theresa,

The batches are just a group of tests and kits sent to the lab at the same time. Batches are created or "closed" every Wednesday -- every test ordered since the previous Wednesday will be in the new batch.

The tests from each batch are not necessarily completed at the same time, so they don't hold up reporting results until everything in the batch is completed. Each test result is reported once it's complete, checked for accuracy and whatever else they need to do with it.

The email sent out on 5/19 did say it would take about another two weeks for the 66-marker tests -- which is actually now 67 markers! It's only been 12 days, so give it a few more. Hopefully we'll start seeing the results shortly. Keep in mind that no one has received 67-marker results yet, so you're not alone. Also, see the "Why are my results not back yet?" thread here in the Batch Calendar forum for more information about why the DNA tests aren't always as quick as we, the customers, would like

As far as I know, none of the 37-to-66 upgrades have yet been released, not even those from batches 145 and 146. (My upgrade is in the latter batch.)

I can only presume that FTDNA is expending effort upgrading all of its Web pages and tools to handle the additional markers.

Just how big is Batch 147 and what are they doing with it?

My husband refined from 37 to 59 markers on March 24th, we also upgraded his sixth cousin's on March 29, because there were no genetic differences at 12, 24, or 37 markers. At that time the expected date was 5/22/06. On 5/19, we got an email stating that the lab was upgrading both tests to 66 markers.

We still don't a new "expected" date and I'm wondering what's up. We paid for both upgrades before 3/29. It seems that they've held this batch open for a long time. We were told by [email protected] that they were closing the batch on the last day of March.

How long do they hold a batch open and what does it mean when you are assigned to a particular batch, does anyone know? (Jim, are you there? )

I really feel awful, I kept telling everyone it would be quick, but that was before all the 37-59/66/67 upgrades. I wonder how many 12 marker tests are still left to do in this batch.
Where do you live, melissa? Frostbite Falls, Minnesota?

    I love homegrown tomatoes, BTW.

    Man, they're good!

(You must be an American, 'cause 35.8 is pretty damn hot in Celsius!)

Just put my 'maters in this evening. Until the last few days (hitting 90 F) it's really been too cool at night to bother. I learned a long time ago not to put them in the ground until the temps stayed above 50F consistently. Of course, I've probably got a longer growing season than you do.

I think you just named the most important "sentimental reason" for continuing to post in the Batch 147 thread!

My DeepSNP-R1b test is part of batch 147. The results were supposed to be available on or about May 22. Any reason why its so late?
