I'm heading out the door to go eat at CiCi's Pizza.

Do you all have those in your necks of the woods? No beer there, unfortunately, but the food is reasonably good, and - best of all - it's cheap.

Anyway, I'll probably be back later.

I wonder what I will do if and when I get my results.

I've been checking my personal page and my email for so long now (it seems like a long time anyway) that I will probably close the page out of habit before realizing there is something new on it!

Target results date is still May 19, 2006.
That pizza sounds pretty good Stevo. Two things a Man prides in..

    • I'm on a little late tonight and I won't be on for long but long enough to catch tonight's batch results come in. It's very exciting now that I hear about people getting results in finally for batch 147 - very cool!!!

It's 1am (EDT) right now, so tonight's results should be in any time. I'll be yelling out if I see anything - and twice as loud if there's anything coming in for me!

      • Two minutes after one and just now 65 new Y-DNA records just got recorded on FTDNA's homepage. Good luck to everyone!

        • Oh well, nothing for Cullen tonight.... that's okay though, more fun watching again tomorrow night!

          How about you, O'Connor?

DNA News Flash (Please say it isn't so!!!): From the Washington Post-
Human Ancestors May Have Interbred With Chimpanzees
          DNA Study Maps Human-Chimp Split

          Read Article Here

As a summary, they are saying that, performing the same tests that show how closely we are related as individuals (ie, MRCA calculations) can basically be applied to species such as chimps and humans. The results of the study say that we DO have common ancestors with chimps.... yuck!!! Don't worry though... it's no one related to you... at least not within the last 5 or 6 million years!

          • About 5 minutes ago I had one batch 147 12 marker test result's notification. It wasn't the one from #`147 that I was really desparate for, but I guess it'll do.

            • HRV1 mtDNA confusion about results

              Hi Folks!

Hope you all are getting some of your results back! I got my first batch of HRV1 mtDNA results back and in the email the familytreedna.com sends, they say:

"if you have a rare DNA sequence, one with many
mutations, that has only been found in a restricted geographical
population or ethnic community, you may be able to confidently contact
matches that you may find in your personal page."

I have four names listed as Low Resolution (HVR1) Matches (4) so does this mean that I am possibly related to these people? I have 5 different mutations and I belong to Halogroup C.

....Or do these results mean that "An exact match on Hyper Variable Region 1 means you share a common female ancestor, although only 50% of the time this common ancestor lived 52 generations or less." I'm a little confused about the results and about how to go about finding who I may be the closest match with.

Any info to inspire me in my search would be very much appreciated...or any newbie sites that may help a gal like me who doesn't know much about this whole DNA thing yet.

BTW, a beer and pizza party sound great at this moment (I'm a student going through finals right now. )

              • Hey, Everybody! Woke up this morning and found my Batch 147 results had come in overnight! Bonus is that all 25 markers showed up at once so my waiting on this set of results is done! Hey Stevo, where's the graduation caps?

As I suspected, I am haplogroup I and will be doing the deep clade test for more info. I have no real close matches, which is a good thing in my mind - makes any matches I do find that much more certain.

                In summary... HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!

                    • Starting to get bummed

I've got to admit, I'm starting to get bummed out.

It seems that much of the Class of 147 is matriculating, and I'm left sitting in the bleachers, my tassel unmoved.

I take heart in the fact that my target date is actually tomorrow, but I'm starting to worry.

                      Sigh . . .

                      • hey!...the worst that can happen is our samples were no good!

If that is the rare case...we get to do it all again!

I received my Y12 results about 6:45 this morning. Looks like I am another R1b1. Three Gregory matches in the FTDNA database. I'm a DNA Genealogy newbie and have much to learn about all this.

Let me know what you find out? do you have 393=13 ?

I'm R1B1 as well. The one thing I have found is that all R1B1 seem to be unmistakably handsome, and modest.

Yes, I do have 393 = 13. What does it mean?

I am sure your finding about R1b1's must be correct.

So you turned out to be R1b1 after all.

                                You called it.

                                Congratulations!
