  • Needless to say, another part of the summer grilling plan includes a large cooler of beer.

Of readily available, grocery store beers, I prefer Heineken.

Where are all the other members of the Class of 147 tonight?

    In bed already?

    Watching the mind-numbing flimmer box?

Three more posts and I hit 500.

Quick little story concerning your Heinies. I'd just turned 18, legal beer age back then, and my father and I were attending a Jaycee convention down in Williamsburg. First beer I ever drank with my father was a Heinie. After getting about two-thirds through it, I started to turn green as the bottle. I had to excuse myself and go to the room to toss my cookies. My father came in soon after to check on me. I really think he thought that was my first beer. That was far from the case but I've never been able to bring myself to drink another Heinie, though

Maybe they're pulling a Christmas Eve...visions of double helixes dancing in their heads.

Actually, I have two batches that are already late, and one that may still be on time or even early:

        mtDNA HVR1 & HVR2 - batch 143, due May 3
        yDNA 38-to-59 - batch 146, due May 15
        Uncle's yDNA 37 (but I paid for it) - batch 149, due June 2

And I never shoot the bull. I take out my frustrations on an ox instead. Of course, he was a bull before I got hold of him.

My original yDNA37 was due on April 19, but I actually got the 1-to-25 results around April 7 and the 26-to-37 results around April 15; so all of those were early.

But don't you see, that makes the waiting for the mtDNA results all the more painful. Remember, I ordered the yDNA and mtDNA tests at the same time!

I don't mean to be annoying, though. Just impatient. I do wish that FTDNA would at least update Web page dates when tests are significantly delayed.

My first beer barfing experience came courtesy of Coors. Needless to say, I don't do Coors unless there's nothing else available.

I had a second beer barfing experience involving Moosehead, but that was the product of pure over-indulgence and the stupidity of moving on to hard liquor in the same evening.

I hope their gifts are on time in the morning.

And you're an I guy, so that shoots down Lost-Sheep's theory that I results are always late.

                Oh, you're not annoying.

I appreciate your posts. All those I've seen have been informative and well written. Glad to see you posting here in Batch 147.

I don't blame you for being impatient. I'm impatient, too, and my target results date isn't even here yet.

                • Once Again, Good Night!

Well, now that I have achieved a form of immortality by breaking 500 posts, I will call it an evening.

I hope there aren't any problems with my DNA samples that require all that re-running stuff (the delay involved scares the poop right out of me).

I scraped the crud out of the inside of my cheek for over two minutes with both swabs!

Which cheeks did they mean, I wonder . . .

[edit] 2 AM, May 17, 2006 that is.

Too much Batch 147 obsession here for me...

May you all recieve the results that you expect!

                      • A lot of posts tonight! I guess that's to be expected as Batch 147's due date draws closer. Can't wait to see what tomorrow's posts will be like. Hey, Lost-Sheep, come back!!! You'll miss all the fun! You just mistook healthy excitement for insanity! Sure there's a fine line between the two but there's no mistaking that this is a very friendly ( and excited ) batch!

sitiv1 mentioned earlier about a "Pending Results" tab on his FTDNA homepage??? I don't have any tabs on mine - is that because I'm a first-timer? I have a table of due dates but that's all.

Talking about the Class of Batch 147. We do need a Class President, someone who represents us all. I move to nominate Stevo. Anybody second that?

                        • Looking ahead to what testing I may want to do in the future, I noticed something that I have a question about:

I'm expecting the results for a 25-marker Y-DNA test. In the future, if there is a need, I would upgrade. I notice that FTDNA's series of upgrades does not include a 25-marker to a 37 or 59 marker test. What would be the basis for figuring the cost of an upgrade?

                          • I got first watch again tonight. It's 1:08am EST and FTDNA's homepage just updated with 50 new Y-DNA records for a total of 64216 records. Cross your fingers everyone!

FTDNA discontinued the 25-marker test when they announced the new 59-marker test, but then brought it back for project participants by popular demand. Of course, even those not in a project who had a 25-marker test before the announcement can certainly upgrade. The pricing isn't shown on the public website, but you'll see the pricing on your upgrade order form after you get your initial test results. Last I checked, these were upgrade prices:

                              25-to-37: $49
                              25-to-59: $148

                              • If they were to scrap any sequence i would think the 12 sequence is the least informative, and should be the first to go. We really need at least 25 markers to compare our with others.

                                I took the grave-yard Watch

all is quiet...My expecting date is May 22.. Y-38-59...and R1B1 SNP (twins)

This is starting to seam like I'm having a baby!
