DMac...were you at all surprised with your y-results?

Actually, yes. I'm a McMillan (Clan MacMillan). While mine were only the 2nd or 3rd set of MacMillan results a couple of years back, so I had little in comparison, I did expect to be R1b as the majority of Scots appeared to be. Also the 1 or 2 MacMillan results to that point had been R1b. I am indicated by FTDNA as haplgroup I and my haplotype pretty much makes it a certainty that I'm I1a.

My closest matches are some gentlemen with the surname 'Norman' and the haplotype seems to indicate probable Anglo-Saxon/Viking roots. The fact that I'm not that typical Celtic Scot/MacMillan made me all the more interested in getting some distant cousins tested.

I just got my batch 144 hvr1 results; it's haplogroup K. I guess I'm descended from Ayla on that side. I have to get back to work.
Don't worry batch 147. My y12 results were 16 days early; my hvr1 results were 7 days early.

I just got my batch 144 hvr1 results; it's haplogroup K. I guess I'm descended from Ayla on that side. I have to get back to work.
Don't worry batch 147. My y12 results were 16 days early; my hvr1 results were 7 days early.

Did FTDNA send you an email notifying you, or did you just find out on your own by checking your personal page?

I noticed a posting from Mark MacDonald over on the Rootsweb DNA list, in the last day or so, saying they'd be releasing results from their study, shortly. We haven't run into any R1a MacMillans but I'll be interested in some of their smaller groups...see if there's any overlap.

I had been collecting results that I could find from different clans, in a database, until I had to put it on the back burner due to 'real' work at the office. Once things calm down again I'll pick that back up and hope to determine how the MacMillans fit in.

Never been to any Norse McDonalds. I've been to McDonalds in Russia, though. The food and the service are better at McDonalds there than at U.S. McDonalds.

Since they're on the metric system, they call a Quarter Pounder a "Royal Cheeseburger."

Seriously, though, I used to be a card-carrying member of Clan Armstrong (one of the Border Bandit - er, Reiver - clans). They're a Norse clan, too. I let my membership drop because I got tired of paying dues and my surname is not Armstrong (though I have Armstrong ancestry via a female).

Man, waiting is not my thing. Still, I can't complain. We haven't reached our target date yet (May 19).

I check my personal page every day, at least a couple of times.

Well, tomorrow I will have something to take my mind off this DNA thing: I'm having a root canal done.

With what I'm paying the dentist I could get all kinds of neat deep clade stuff done.

I have noticed each time an estimated date has been posted by FTDNA on my personal page it was done sometime during the night. My question is whether FTDNA does only update the personal pages once every twenty-four hours? If so, it would be pointless to check for results more than once each day.

I got my results in the middle of the day, with an email notification. They hadn't added the mitosearch icon when I got to my page.
Sorry, I didn't answer sooner, Stevo; it's testing week at my school and grades are due next week.
I'm still trying to figure out what all the implications of mtdna haplogroup K are; I wasn't really expecting that. That's the fun of this isn't it?
Remember my friends, ftdna was 2 weeks early with my y12 and 1 week early with my hvr1. Hope for the best, although I know it's hard to be patient.

Are you a teacher? So I am. We just started 4th Quarter a couple of weeks ago, but I already have a huge pile of papers to grade.
