Estimated Time for a Family Finder Batch to be Completed

How long does it takes for a batch to be completed? My Batch 502 Family Finder has been ongoing since 4 Feb. It had an expected completion date of 23 March 2013. It has taken 14 weeks at this stage.

People have said FTDNA has better customer service than Ancestry or 23andMe. Have you called them? There were problems for more than a month this year with Family Finder (people lost all their matches etc), but not sure if that is part of your issue.

I think that once the staff at Family Tree DNA is absolutely convinced that Buld 37 is constructed properly & suggesting kinships properly, they will get back to their normal timetable; back then, from the time a kit was batch to when results were ready took 10 days to 2 weeks.

I am also curious about this. I suspect there are actually two different time tables involved. One is the completion of the actual DNA testing and the other may involve getting those results uploaded to servers and awaiting any matches. If it is two different pieces it would really be nice to know when the first has been completed. At least then it would feel like progress even if you didn't yet have matches in the system.

I have nothing to base this on but I would venture a guess that getting the raw data uploaded to their servers and the processing is what takes the majority of the time.

I have contacted the Help Desk by email (I am located in Australia) Was told on 18 Apr that the batch will be completed on the day specified IE 25 March. Still no result on 15 May 2013. Not a real helpful answer by the Help Desk, but at least the reply from them only took a couple of days.
