      misuse of forums?

      Hi, Jim

It appears that FTDNA forums have been joined by someone (K.C.) who does not know what to use the lists for.

Since we are approaching a weekend the list administrators (or whatever they are called) may not notice until Monday, at the least.

Here is definitely one for your emails to Max. He could give channels a cleansing... ...or else we shall just be stuck with it for a while.

      Thanx, Clara

        Locational Study - Primer

Thanks for the idea Jim. I will begin to read up on the particulars. Any special advice or links as I get started?

        Thanks,
        Jeff

and if his family comes from there you will match someone sometime
the same goes for your mom did they live in the area. unless its ny ny . i would give it a try i have 7 locational studies and would be happy to help you at least answer some questions on it

            Results!

I was very surprised to see that the first round of results arrived today (markers 1-12)! Did anyone else receive something today?

Time to start reading in earnest I suppose.

I have one 12/12 match but from what I have read this isn't terribly revealing since I can't consider my family name (as some may recall, I was the product of artificial insemination with a sperm donor). As such, its hard to know where to start. I am interested in starting a location study (as Jim suggests) to see if I happen to match others in my area.

            Jim,
How does a locational study work? In my case, it seems that the location is specific to where someone was born/conceived (Santa Monica, CA in my instance). Does that fit the case?

Anxious to hear from all of you.
            Cheers,
            Jeff

just go up to the top of the page click projects
              mine are CHELSEA,FROSINONE,HANIBAL/QUINCY,PARAMATTA/SYDNEY,lONGFORD,BRIGHTON/NEWTON
Check for santa monica ,california ,or the county
new mexico has one peurto rico, bahamas

              then ask bennett

              here is a tip
go to the mailing list and board do not mention dna or genetics say i am annoucing the santa monica [whatever county]project if anyone would like a surname included email me at your address
when they email you. you send them the url for the project page so they can see their names included and your goals and whatever else

at this point it is their project and they have a personal interest so an occasional update and i mean occasional is welcomed dont overload them

and the nat geo program coupled with double project membership has my chelsea project to 23 when i was stuck at 4 for months. chances are the sperm in a clinic might be the same donors.

and except mtdna and ydna tell bennett to write the requirements pro mtdna
              sorry bennett!!

NO! I did not receive any results. This must mean that something is wrong with my test.
All this waiting for nothing; who knows when I will receive it now?

I have emailed Max, but received no answer.
I will wait until the 10/29/05 target before I ask someone else.
                      How about you Clara?

                        counting those days...

                        Hi, Greg.

I haven't received any results, either. ...And, although we are supposed to receive results on the 29th, from a practical standpoint, we may not get it until a weekday. What do you think, Greg?

October 29th does fall on a Saturday.

That's okay with me...as long as they post the results on the first day they are back at their jobs. [i.e., have not lost them].

With their reputation, it will work out!
                        Clara

Also, I have mutations which is different than the CRS.
                              16100 is showing one red "T" and 16130 has two red "T" and 16230 has a "C".
                              Lastly, 16400 has a big "A".
I have no ideal what this all means.

                                interpreting results

                                Hi, Greg

Glad to see that your test results have been posted. So have mine. I agree; much of it is "Greek." A person just has to read through some of the descriptive material. My best guess is that it may take a little while to gain a good grasp of it.

Did you choose to sign the release form? I did. As a result, FTDNA has supplied me with 28 others who share my DNA (although how closely related they are may be another story). I think that you can still do it, if you want to.
