  • Batch Geno 2.0

There's not really a thread like this yet, but I figured it might be useful for comparing everyone's Geno 2.0 progress. If this needs to be in the Genographic subforum, go ahead and move it.

Anyway, I received my kit and mailed it back on October 16th, it was marked as received on October 22nd, and now it's in the isolation stage.

I ordered mine on the weekend... now I'm just waiting for it to ship.

Seeing things like this upsets me. They received my kit on October 16th and still shows in the received 20% status. How is it someone's kit is received well after and is already in the isolation stages?

If you are at the 20% stage you are at the stage of DNA Isolation.

Yep, that's where mine is (isolation/20%). It seems to me like this should be one of the shortest steps, but I'm sure it takes a lot longer than normal with all the kits they're having to process.

DNA is out of isolation and is now being analyzed. Received the email notification today.

              YOUR DNA HAS BEEN ISOLATED
Our lab has successfully isolated your DNA. This means that your full analysis is approximately 40% complete. In DNA isolation, cells from your samples are opened up through overnight incubation with a protein-cutting enzyme. The samples and chemicals are then placed on an “extraction robot.” This device uses specially coated beads that, in the presence of the appropriate chemicals, bind to the DNA. Then, using magnetic probes, it collects the beads (and DNA) and transfers them through several chemical washes and finally into a storage buffer, which allows the beads to release the DNA. The DNA samples are then transferred to a large freezer that records the exact position of DNA in each storage plate and can provide any combination of samples when needed.

My kit also at 40 %. For what ever reason I did choose to participate but know my page does not show it . I have looked at it before and I had all the questions filled out. So I don't know.

                  Anyone else have this happen?

                  Contribution to science status

You are currently not participating. If you agree to contribute your result to research, the genetic data from your test and some of the answers to questions in your profile will be included in our database of global genetic information and linked to your Genographic ID code. Inclusion in the global database is your choice and is not necessary to access your results. More Info

no longer checked . Yes, I would like to participate in this important global study

Same thing here, 40% complete - stage 3 underway.

I contributed to science when I filled out my profile a while back. Checked it last week and it said I was not participating... I filled it out again and when I clicked on save it said that I was already participating even though the status still showed that I was not...

Hope they figure the problem out soon.

                      (I'm glad to see that this thread wasn't a totally dumb idea . . . )

Anyway, I'm also at 40 percent as of today. So . . .

                      10/16/12 - Kit received
                      10/16/12 - Sample returned
                      10/22/12 - Sample received
                      10/24/12-ish - Isolation stage (20%)
                      11/07/12 - Analysis stage (40%)

Hopefully those dates will help those whose samples are still in the earlier stages of the process to gauge when their samples might advance to the next step.

I called about this issue that some of the kits are not showing Participating even though we did check the box for the option.

They will let IT know about it. Some people are getting e-mail that their their kit has gone on to the next stage and some are not they are aware of that problem and I am also in that group of people.

My kit has already gone to stage 3 DNA Analysis. So you may want to check your kit status again.

How long did it take for your kits to be marked as received? I sent my brother's kit in 2 weeks ago and still don't see anything. Should I contact them?
