Updated or Add on Big Y Tree

Just wondering whether FTDNA has any plans to update the current Big Y Tree or to have an add on test for greater fidelity on more recent (younger SNPs for genealogical purposes) SNPs? Interested to hear either way.

If you are interested in R1b P312+, you should visit www.ytree.net

This site maintains a rather advanced means of tracking SNPs down fairly close to the present day.

Thank you for your reply Timothy, it is appreciated. However, what I am wondering about and mostly likely did not articulate very well is whether FTDNA plans to update the coverage (via read length and number of reads) in order to provide a greater level more recent SNP (which are of great interest to those testing for genealogical purposes).

The BigY product is limited by how it was constructed. To move forward FTDNA should offer a 20x whole genome product which will provide additional coverage at current read lengths. It is still several years out for the long read options to be viable for what we want to do.
