I'm Italian (gentile) paternally on my fathers side but I wanted to know what my STR's said. What am I specifically?

Most J1 subclades are in the Near East and North Africa, with lower levels in Southern Europe. There is one branch from the eastern part of the Middle East. It might help to join the Y Dna J Project.

There is also an Italy J1 Project. J1 is located in various parts of Italy from Bologna and parts of Tuscany in the north to Abruzzi and parts of Sicily in the south. Most J1 lines are Semitic in origin (including Arab influenced North Africa). The eastern Middle East branch is not Semitic.

You may or may not want to test further. Join the J1 Project quickly before the BigY and other coupons expire.
